Planet's Edge... It has been a thorn in my side since my childhood. Back then, it was a charming space adventure with colorful spaceships, and planets, and aliens - everything a kid like me might dream. And when I was unable to beat it, I thought, it's because of my poor English. Now, being an adult I understand how poorly made this game is. Lots of unfinished features (like half of the crew skills), claustrophobic corridors, constantly clogged with unmovable aliens, tedious combat that at some point boils to "keep range 11 from Starbase and pound it with MegaMissiles. Enable autofire and go drink some tea". And the worst is puzzles. The only way to win this game is a clue book, which developer even didn't bother to post on steam (but still available online). Even a walkthrough is not enough - I scrapped my run a while ago since
at "Stromy weather" you have to interact with "Bloodied tile" which absolutely indistinguishable from the environment
and it completely ...

Classic PC game that I spent hours on as a kid. I never finished it back then so I'm glad to have the opportunity to play it again! Edit: updating my review now that I finished the game. I doubt I would have been able to finish this without the clue book (google for it), and it probably explains why I got stuck as a kid. The clue book should really be provided along with the manual because there are a handful of occasions where the steps required to progress are not intuitive. It is quite a time consuming game, I actually liked this aspect to the game. That the universe was there for you to explore and discover, scanning planets for scenarios and minerals. However since you have spent a lot of time discovering, this means you have less patience when you come up against a road block. Anyway, I'm glad to have finally completed the game!
Can't recommend this game enough. Played it back in the 90s, so expect 90s style PC graphics, menus and controls. Controls are maybe a bit clunky considering today's gaming control scheme. Other Aliens, Robots, Entities will get in the way if trying to move, but that came with the territory back then. WAY before it's time! Before No Man's Sky, Mass Effect, Starfield. Action / RPG / tactical(?) / turn-based(?) / Space Combat / Land combat game all wrapped up in a nice package. A lot of planet systems to visit, though with a couple worthy planets to either gather resources or beam down to. I never finished the game for what ever reason. Possibly stuck on where to head to next to solve the story.. I don't remember. I still have the box and everything for the game! For the longest time I would want to come back to this game even after computer specs had advanced and new Windows that wouldn't run these old DoS games. Would try MANY times to get DoSBox to actually work it smoothly, but one...
Good Retro game! This could definitely if it was remade right would be second only to Mass Effect
Great classic game. The graphic and controls may be very old, but the story and adventure is still one of the best.
