About This Game

Take back the city of Tertium from hordes of bloodthirsty foes in this intense and brutal action shooter. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is the new co-op focused experience from the award-winning team behind the Vermintide series.

In the depths of the hive, the seeds of corruption threaten to turn into an overwhelming tide of darkness. A mysterious and sinister new force is seeking to take control of the entire city. It is up to you and your allies in the Inquisition to root out the enemy before the city succumbs to Chaos.

As Tertium falls, Rejects Will Rise.

Built on the legacy of Vermintide 2’s best-in-class melee combat, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide introduces intense WH40K gunplay to the mix. Master the balance between ranged and melee combat as you fight through a slew of enemies. Feel the impact of each swipe, swing, and slice of a chainsword, or fry some flesh with a lasgun.

Darktide is a co-op game. Wandering too far, risks punishment by foes looking to immobilize or capture stray Rejects, such as the slavering Chaos Hound or the Moebian Trapper. Once you fall prey to such foes, only your teammates can save you! More than that, your innate toughness – your determination to press on through the pain – only recharges when you are in the proximity of your strike team.

Create your own, unique character and customize their physical appearance, voice, and origin. Choose your class to determine which unique traits and skill sets they will make use of in battle. Will you be a seasoned veteran of the Imperial army, a snarky outsider, or a fiery zealot? The choice is yours.

Step into the violent, dystopian world of Warhammer 40,000. From boiling hot industrial factories to the decaying water maintenance zone afflicted by constant acid rainfall - Tertium Hive is a hard and unforgiving place even at the best of times. Your role is to serve the zealous Inquisition by embarking on missions to exterminate the threats lurking in the depths of the hive city, or die trying.

Adapt to the erratic whims of Chaos with conditions- mutators that add a spontaneous challenge to your mission. Your team must learn to adjust, adopt new tactics and change up their loadouts to face these ruthless challenges.

This games been out for almost three years. All I want is to be able to play solo so I can explore the maps. It was promised it'd be added after release. Three years is a joke.

This game is designed and ran by a real life nurgle. Cons - Forced Cross-play - Uses fatnurgle's own servers instead of steamworks - Netcode so bad that it makes nintendo's look decent - No real difficulty, Havoc 30+ is more annoying than a challenge due to bloated enemy design and horrible boss design. - Nonexistent balance in both builds and AI director. - Constant yabbing on radio during missions/hub - Veteran(s) Pros: Jesper Kyd Voice acting player created characters Superior gameplay to eg Space Marine 2 Art Direction FatShark you stink like a nurgle

I didn't find myself enjoying this game after playing it, but it still has potential to be better, especially if more variety missions and maps were added similar to Deep Rock Galactic and Vermintide 2. Combat is decent but the gameplay itself feels repetitive and boring. It's not terrible however, since there is still plenty of room for improvement, and not to mention the crashes and disconnects I usually get throughout the game, which has been a huge problem in the game.

My god, what a fun game. The combat is absolutely unparalleled, the sound design and gameplay loop is excellent, and every single shot, slash, bash, punch feels impactful. The absolute best Warhammer game in existence right now, here's hoping for more and better games like this in the future.

This game gets me immersed with the fast game play and time flies when I play it. Great core game and combat system, and the game actually looks beautiful when you stop and look around. The sound design is perfect. Sound cues, specialist sound and the OST helps with the immersed feeling. A little unbalanced weapons makes you play with a smaller selection of weapons because some of them are a bit underwhelming. Solo queue is fine but the game really shines when playing with a group friends. Overall a great game and well worth playing.

Alright, after almost 100 hours, I'm ready to give my final take on Darktide, not just on the game it is, but on the game it isn't. First of all, I'm a huge fan of 40K, the lore and the setting are incredible. But Darktide never actually delivers on it. You never feel like you're in that massive, galaxy-spanning nightmare where humanity is always on the brink. Instead, you're just some reject tossed into endless, copy-paste missions inside a random hive, fighting the same handful of Nurgle cultists and plague zombies over and over again. It's a massive missed opportunity. If they weren't going to do anything meaningful with the lore, they could've at least given us spectacle. Imagine actually playing as a squad with a Space Marine, a Tech-Priest, an Eldar, or an Imperial Assassin caught in the mess, fighting on worlds that actually matter. Instead, we got: "Here’s your generic prisoner #572. Now go swing your shovel at another recycled horde of plague fodder"... It’s the 40k equi...

darktide shouldve been launched in early access, and even now, almost 3 years after launch? the game is still pretty much in a state of early access. The gameplay itself is very tight and fun, but the game has like 10 maps, and there's very little reason to replay missions after you beat them (like, why am i basically doing the same objective every single time? payday 2 ten years ago had this shit figured out, of course payday 3 forgot it, but whatever. the monetization practices are an entirely different problem, though. Why the fuck am I getting a monthly fortnite item shop rotation of premium skins, (the original justification for them being that it would "pay for free updates" but you still had to buy arbities so lol) instead of unlocking these skins through challenges like every other fucking shooter in existence? Fuck you fatshark, seriously, the slop shop is an insult to every person who plays this game, and if you buy from it, i'm assuming you're a child who has literally NO...

This game is so much fun. Is it a perfect game? No. But it more than makes up for its short comings with an awesome core gameplay loop, fantastic soundtrack, and perfect art design.

A tentative poor review, but nonetheless a poor one. The core gameplay of the game is good, and both environment visuals and soundtrack are fantastic. It's just a shame that the rest of the game is so heavily let down by the developer. Performance issues exist which have persisted for years at this point. New content is barely released, coming at a snail's pace. Even the cosmetics which should be an ongoing revenue stream come at a comically slow rate. All of this speaks to a developer which, as with previous games, launches and then reassigns all but the slimmest of skeleton crews to maintain the game. It's true that the game as it currently is is a fairly solid experience. But it's also true that it took years to get to this point where other developers would have fixed issues within three months. There's very little to look forward to because even if new content can be expected, it won't arrive for years because there's nobody actually working on it. Regrettable. The game dese...
