About This Game

Fire up the Chainsaw. Just because you're dead doesn't mean anything is over, let alone the killing. Massacre and loot your way through this shifting woodland Nightmare, grow in power and improve your tactics, and maybe, if you can reach all six Carrion Shrines and slay every horrible thing that crawls out of the shadows to stop you, you might just make it back to life. You might even get your revenge. Just know that a wrong move will be your end. Again. For now.

It's a harsh Nightmare. You know what they say—if at first you don't escape, die, die again.

Living the Nightmare is a difficult Horror Roguelike with fast-paced, turn-based gameplay, random and procedural generation, loot and monsters galore, all made entirely by a team of two.

MAIN FEATURES
  • A Turn-Based, Hex-Grid, Strategic, Difficult, Horror Roguelike where death is one misstep away. Being turn-based doesn't mean the action is slow. Commands play out as quickly as you input them. Monsters come in packs, but take their turns all at once. Nonetheless, if you want to think about your actions carefully, you have all the time in the world. Death is very patient and a painful Reconstitution is just a click away.
  • Scavenge, Survive, and Improve as you rip equipment, ammo, and hearts from the carcasses of your foes. You can find and wield 70 weapons, masks and items. You can also build your own Faceless and try different tactics utilizing over 40 perks.
  • A Shifting Nightmare made with a mix of random and procedural generation, featuring multiple biomes and a host of over 50 bosses and monsters with a multitude of mechanics to learn.
  • Streamlined Control makes the game intuitive and playable with just the mouse, freeing aspiring Killers to focus on slaughter and survival. Even loot is collected automatically.
  • Dive Right In with a short intro/tutorial and get right to the killing. Easy to learn, hard to master is definitely the right phrase, and there is a retro styled in-game Manual for players who want a deeper understanding of the game mechanics.

no horror, not enough blood, not disgusting at all. it is something like small version of turnbased crimson land. if you are not into modern graphics and stuff and you are in search for some 30 minutes single session of killing monsters roguelite - it is for you. advice: turn off ingame music and play some black/grind/funeral of your own collection. EDIT: vote for game to be more disgusting! (and more stuff). EDIT: ok, it is not a great-great-great game, also it has frustrating/gamebreaking bugs. but it is sure playable and i just want to support devs a little with positive review. still recommend, yeah!!!

it's like DoomRL but for Splatterhouse. sort of. kill as much as you can for as long as you can, with a selection of different melee and ranged weapons. different masks and skills adds a bit of depth, and there's enough blood to fill up at least 10 overlook hotel elevators

Kill Monsters, and sometimes an innocent Human, in a turn-based Slasher-Survival-Horror Game. Nothing to say more. Play and enjoy it if you like turn-based Games.

This game is not famous enough, so i add my own rating. It's pretty nice game created on crossroad between horror, turnbased, rougelike and bits of RPG genre with some nice mix of survival elements and puzzle. The basis of story is pretty simple and understandable, Imagine movie about Jason Voorhes goes to hell. That it. Our bloodthristy protagonist (antagonist?) died and his disturbed soul get to hell. To make things different he must do really easy to say but hard to execute task - kill monsters (with some number of innocent people too) and ignite shrines to proceed. There really huge bestiary and variety of monsters - from worms and worm infested corpeses to horrors from the void (Who's good ol' H.P.Lovecraft mentioned many times) To survive our killer must utilize anything on this bloody battlefield - collect different weapons, masks, suits and powerups, use higher grounds and etc. Each weapon have it's own durability limit and guns have limited ammo. There many things and tricks...

Afar as game that try to somehow fit in the rouge like genre this is one of the more interesting. The tutorial level goes by fast and unfortunately you can't go back ( at least I don't know how. ) I like the hex format and overall style of the game , The combat is fitting for what they are trying to do. The only thing that really irritates me is the height thing. Its a pretty addicting little game. I am sure there are those who have ignited all of the shrines but that is not me as of yet. Its fairly cheap price wise so if you like rouge type games and horror definitely pick this up,

REALLY good game. Well worth the price. I would describe it as "Turn-based Splatterhouse" Pros: -Fun to play. Satisfying gameplay. Kills are fun. Simple to grasp strategy gameplay that can move at a quick pace. -Introduction is excellent. Surprised to see something that high quality in a game of this price. -Creative power-ups and status effects. Cons: -Awesome introduction seemed to have little to do with the actual nightmare gameplay. -I was disappointed there wasn't more gameplay like the tutorial where you play as a predator.

Great little game! Love the visuals. It's challenging and sometimes RNG can get you down, but the runs don't take very long and it's totally different every time. Interesting take on a turn-based system. You can click and go as fast as you want or sit there and inspect every enemy and take time plotting your movement. Quite the variety in abilities and weapons. The bosses are well thought out and creepy! I was surprised to find lore on every weapon and item too (gotta click the item to read it). You feel super powerful when you get power-ups that align with your loadout. Horror roguelikes need more love like this.

This game has a really nice style to it and the gameplay is competent, some of the bosses are quite well made. but the level design is really lacking and samey, making it not as replayable as it should be.
