Stranger of Paradise is one of those games that I initially wasn't too interested in when the demo had dropped years ago, it was rough and felt super clunky, fast forward years later when I ended up getting it a year or two after it launched on sale and ended up loving the game more than I expected and when I got my new PC I decided to get it again recently. The story in this game I initially found laughable because of it's sub par acting and not very serious tone, but the more you play it, the more it gets interesting, at it's core it's a different take on Final Fantasy I from Team Ninja and Square Enix a much darker take on the story and it had a plot twist I didn't see coming, but play it for yourself to find that out. Gameplay wise it might seem simple at first and like any other Team Ninja game but the more you play it, unlock stuff and get to the end game the more it opens up, my favorite part about this game is the Job system and builds you can do with it, that make it absolut...

About the Game

Will restoring the crystals' light usher in peace or a new form of darkness? ...Or perhaps something else entirely?
This game features memorable locales from other entries in the FINAL FANTASY series.
Pravoka Seagrot recalls Sastasha of FINAL FANTASY XIV. Beyond the cave's mystical landscape of vividly colored coral lies the pirates' hideout where their ship is anchored.
Hallowed Massif recalls Mt. Gagazet of FINAL FANTASY X. Fierce blizzards and avalanches impede the progress of travelers, while graven figures sleep within the mountain.
Other areas and battle music also draw inspiration from the main titles in the series, providing FINAL FANTASY fans with plenty of familiar tidbits to stoke nostalgia and make the game even more enjoyable.

When I learned that there was a Final Fantasy Team Ninja game, I figured it was too good to be true. Nope, it actually exists, and it's incredible. The story is not as good as some of the main FF entries, but Team Ninja's masterful combat system more than makes up for that. For anyone with soulslike/lite experience, I highly recommend playing on hard with your allies disabled. You lose out on some passive buffs, but the combat is so much more engaging that way, and you have control over enemy behavior in a way you really lose out on with party members. Don't worry, they'll still talk to you like they're there, it's just a combat mechanic.
Don't play the DLC. Base game is great, the DLC is some of the worst shit I've ever played in my life.
best game in the series ngl
6.5/10 Okey, you might ask " How did I wind up with this rating number? One of the lowest score I've given". To put it simply, its very monologue~ish. What is good about this game? Honestly, the dialogue. The dialogue between Jack and his friends were really good, good being its not your typical shounen-like dialogue or Marvel script like dialogue. Its very out of character for Jack, being the MC, dropping F-bombs and not giving a f*ck. Also the usage of the word "Chaos" is pretty impressive. BUT if someone does not like the humour of it, well... then the score rating will be even lower The story is pretty good too I guess. But its nothing to "FOMO" about though. The game class mechanics is also not bad I guess. There are like around 28 job class I think which I guess can keep the game kinda interesting. Now what falls short in this game. Music-wise is pretty meh. Nothing that captures your attention. The lack of a town or the interaction of an environment. The dungeons...
I'd give it a thumbs up. If I was to sum it up I'd call it a combat focused looter. It's way harder than FFXV and the DLC takes it beyond the difficulty of a Souls game. It's one of the few FF games that don't actually have an open world to explore which really isn't a bad thing because 90% of Team Ninja's budget is all about making great combat. There's a dumb amount of classes with many tiers of skills. Each class has at least one weapon type it focuses on so there's a dumb amount of weapons too! The looting and stat system feels really rewarding when you find legendary gear. It's Souls-Lite with a Team Ninja combat system so the combat feels good too. Unfortunately you'll be revisiting every stage over and over again. Not simply for higher levelled loot but for the fact that the DLC starts after you've completed some of the post game difficulty challenges. Yeah... The DLC adds new tiers of difficulty and you have to torture yourself to progress. There's a possible cheese strat you...
Peak gaming
Is it playable, sure. Is it entertaining, yes. The story is awful. I approached it like it was going to be campy. No it's just bad and kinda stupid in places. Just platitudes and generalizations. Will I finish it, probably. I'd give it a 6 out of 10. Maybe wait till it's on sale.
I can't explain this game, it's so weird, this is one of those games that makes you wonder how a dev team worked on this for so long, play it with a friend or two and just.. witness
