I have put about 32 hours into the desktop version of Cooking Simulator, which has its issues but I enjoy well enough. Something simple to play while I watch videos, usually. But if you want that kind of experience in the VR version, I wouldn't get your hopes up. Because of the lack of physics on your hands, the refrigerator and oven doors can be a pain to open, and I found that if I didn't open a door fully, it would close on its own - same for closing. Once a door was open, I had to really push and make sure it'd close, or it would swing open again. Something that shouldn't require much thought became a constant annoyance. Grab the handle exactly where it wants you to, and fight with the weird motion smoothing to get the door to close fully. The cutting was okay - it was probably supposed to be one of the big improvements over desktop, but truthfully, I didn't find that it worked much better or more intuitively. However, if you’re not interested in playing by the rules, you’re going to love the Sandbox mode. Access all the recipes and ingredients and prepare whatever you like without any pressure. You don’t even have to cook anything! Game physics gives you unlimited opportunities. Use a slow-motion button to cut veggies in the air, set up cutting boards like dominoes, set the whole kitchen on fire, blow up the oven and save the day using a fire extinguisher!

Given the fact this is $25.99 USD, the VR mechanics are simply not justified for this price- as a $5.00 DLC, sure, it was fun... for about 20 minutes. I honestly cant recommend this unless you genuinely think that playing desktop cooking simulator with some VR controls is worth the price - because I can guarantee, you aren't gaining ANYTHING more from the VR experience.

I love cooking simulator games and wanted to try some in VR, but I got really dizzy and motion sick as soon as I started moving around 🤣 Just a note for those who are sensitive like me. Will still try to give the normal one a chance.
