About This Game

Rogue Summoner is a turn-based tactics roguelike about conjuring creatures to fight for you. It's a game about mastering different monster behaviors and using them creatively in combat.

You will dive deep into different types of procedurally-generated dungeons, each with its unique difficulty, size and creatures. Death in each one means starting over from the very beginning of the dungeon, with no upgrades nor monsters in your loadout. But with death comes understanding and hidden knowledge of the dungeons' secrets.

As you master each unique creature, you will be able to optimize your strategy by exploiting their weaknesses when fighting against them, and leveraging their strengths when summoning them. Every creature you defeat can be added to your loadout, from a half-witted spider to the great Morthgaal.

 • Explore different types of procedurally generated dungeons, each with its unique theme, difficulty and monsters
 • Summon every creature you encounter, from spineless minions to mighty bosses
 • Master and combine different behaviors creatively
 • Create and Execute your strategy in a turn-based, table-top combat system
 • Cast your own combos with different monsters, magic potions and rune spells
 • Upgrade your skills as you level up and go deeper into the dungeons
 • Become the Rogue Summoner - no matter how many deaths it takes

This game has a thin line between impossible and difficult, and nowadays you can't find games like this too often. I play chess and plenty of other strategy game, and this one is top three of my favorite. It runs really well, and it revolves around really thinking about your placement. There are all kinds of creatures you can use to your advantage, and different stat boosts and "Runes" to help. It is very similar to chess and I can't get over how hard, but just possible it is. 5\5!

This a very interesting and original game. At first I thought I would suck on it because I am horrible at chess (and this is in part an auto-chess) but the way it is presented and being able to see how your opponent will act if you put your monster/piece on different tiles makes it more fair. Also the variety of monster makes it more fun than the limited chess pieces. Some things I would change: Letting you know what kind of potion is inside a chest when you already have the potion spaces full (so, you can decide if destroy it or not) and also let you know how your own monster is gonna move the first time you place it. Anyways, very fun game.

It pains me to say this, but I would not recommend this game, at least in its current form. While I really like the core mechanic of auto-resolving battles that play out in a predictable way, and the developers clearly care a lot about their game, I think Rogue Summoner commits the cardinal sin of video gaming: it is just kind of boring. Before I get into my issues with the game though, I want to point out that I haven't played THAT much of the game and some problems might resolve themselves later. But from the footage I have seen, this doesn't necessarily appear to be the case. So, here are my issues with the Rogue Summoner:

The game does not work as a roguelite. There are not mechanics that make roguelites enjoyable, just the idea of perma-death. One of the core ideas of the roguelike and roguelite genre is that every run is unique and teeming with possibilities. This is not the case here, unfortunately. The enemies you face are mostly the same. The monster you g...

Ok, first of all lets get the negative stuff out of the way... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD let me save my progress. getting thrown back to the VERY BEGINNING every single time is so annoying it completely destroys any enjoyment I MIGHT have gotten from the game. almost all games have some form of save feature that lets you pick up where you left off. not this game. gotta sign off for the night? Congratulations! you have lost all your progress and all your upgrades. Lose a level? Congratulations! you have once again lost all your progress and upgrades. playing this game is like getting sucker-punched in the tender bits REPEATEDLY!! in fact getting kicked in the groin might actually be more enjoyable. I played the same section for a couple hours, finally managed to make it to the boss fight twice only to get absolutely curb-stomped by a boss that is WAY TO OVER POWERED. I strongly dislike that I PAID MONEY for this dumpster fire of a game. go back and make a save feature for those of ...

I'm giving this a thumb's up, even though I personally don't enjoy this game as much as I could. The reason is because this is a rogue-like, and I prefer rogue-lites (metaprogression). Fun game, though, for those who enjoy such.

A Rogue with the soul of a puzzle game. Rogue Summoner is a clever easy to pick up, hard to master indie game that reminds me of Into the Breach with its deterministic approach to combat. You know exactly how the enemy will behave and its up to you to figure out how to best use that to your advantage. A very clever presentation of interesting mechanics.

Tutorial is very tedious. Sucks all the fun out of what this game could have been.

Fun game, not for everyone and often quite unforgiving but something fresh and new. It's a combination of a Roguelike and a creature game, which is unusual in itself, but rather than command them, they act based on pre decided abilities and behaviours and where you place them, though you are shown a lot of what might happen on a turn. There is some trial and error as you learn the creatures abilities, but it's very satisfying when it all comes together. And the guide iIve just made tells you what all the creatures do so there is that. It's not for everyone, but if the concept sounds neat, give it a try and if you aren't happy after an hour or two, well that's what refunds are for
