About This Game

Team Reptile brings you Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, a future world from the mind of Dion Koster where self-styled graffiti crews equipped with personal boostpacks are battling each other for control of the streets. Start your own cypher and dance, paint graffiti, collect beats, combo your tricks and face off with the cops to stake your claim to the sprawling metropolis of New Amsterdam.

Red is a graffiti writer who lost his head and instead uses a cyberhead to get around. In search of his roots he joins the Bomb Rush Crew, Tryce and Bel. Together they decide to go All City, to become the best graffiti crew in the city. The more territory they gain, the more they discover who it was that cut off Red's head and how deep his human side is linked to the graffiti world.

Facts:

  • Explore the 5 main boroughs of the city to hit graffiti spots and get REP. You'll need it to challenge the rival crews to a Crew Battle.
  • Find new members to join your crew around the city. Spread around are also new graffiti pieces to paint, outfit colors and music to play on your flip phone.
  • Use skateboarding, inline skating or BMX style tricks in the unique environment based trick system. Extend your combos with manuals and get even higher scores by incorporating special Boost Tricks.
  • You can get boost power for doing long combos so the fastest way to move is also the most stylish.
  • Dynamic militarized police that scales up as you vandalize.

Spiritual successors usually have something that makes them just different enough that something is off about them. BRC really isn't that. It's a game that takes every criticism of Jet Set Radio and more or less fixes it while keeping in line with it's style and function. It's a game that goes far beyond understanding the assignment. Figured I should finally post something about it on steam for it's 2 year anniversary. Took long enough.

Amazing game You can always tell when a dev team WANTS to work on something. This game is amazing, the soundtrack is bumpin. If you like games with movement, Large modding scenes and funky music. this is that game. This game instantly became my favorite upon first launch. My only complaint is that sometimes the story dialouge or scene transitions during cutscenes can be a little jarring, but overall BRC balances a upbeat groovy group of friends with underlying disturbing lore. and its packaged well enough to where you can figure out the twist before it happens. 9/10, well worth the money.

I remember seeing this a while back and I wish-listed it. I find it very hard generally to play single player games as generally when I jump on to play some games I jump in with some friends and play whatever multiplayer game we are all fixated one at the moment. But I sat down one Saturday and bought it and booted it up. I was immediately sucked into this game and even though I had never played it before, I immediately felt like I was overcome with a heavy sense of nostalgia. Its so refreshing to have a game thats Gameplay First over Graphics and that isn't to say it doesnt look amazing. I loved the movement, I loved the level design, I loved the characters and thought the story was pretty good too. The soundtrack was a huge positive for me and the songs are now in my regular listen rotation on Spotify. (Even that one that says "Let me see you shake that...", you know the one...) I heavily reccomend this game, its just a very good vibe and I get a little emotional thinking about ...

Too little too late in my opinion. As a person who was a very big fan of Jet Set Radio Future, I just couldn't really love this game as much as the Jet Grind Radio series that this was essentially based on. The game's art style is great, but the gameplay and feel just don't seem to compare to the creativity and imagination of the Jet Grind games. You have a selection of different "vehicles" whether it's your bike, skates, or skateboard, but none of them provide any difference in gameplay. The boss battles are very unimaginative and the final boss battle is straight up confusing. This game really would've done great if it was released soon after JSRF, but in today's gaming landscape, I feel it was missing too many things that make modern games fun, while it lacked the spirit of games from the Xbox era.
