About This Game
Immerse yourself in the history of Ancient Egypt with 50 missions in Pharaoh™: A New Era, a remake of Pharaoh (and the expansion Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile), one of the best city builders from the golden age of Sierra Entertainment. Stone by stone, build your city and manage all aspects of its development to ensure it prospers and makes you a powerful and revered pharaoh.
Develop your city by cultivating the fertile lands along the banks of the Nile valley. Erect the iconic monuments of Ancient Egypt, including the pyramids, the Sphinx and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Build temples and mausoleums to help manage all aspects of your city's health and culture as well as the predominant polytheistic religion of the time.
Ensure your city is prosperous enough to deal with economic or political crises, or even plundering by enemies. A pharaoh takes care of its people and does whatever it can to earn the favour of the gods.
Pharaoh™: A New Era celebrates 20 years since the release of the famous franchise with a complete remake, including more than 50 playable missions and over 100 hours of gameplay.
The "Campaign" mode teaches you the game basics while allowing you to experience a unique story in the heart of Ancient Egypt. Explore all aspects of life in a thriving city, build and manage all its fundamental elements to ensure it flourishes: the economy, internal and external trade, culture, health, agriculture, education, etc.
The journey back in time is really brought to life with this new version, which upgrades the gameplay mechanics to modern standards and completely redesigns the captivating soundtrack and gorgeous isometric 2D graphics.
Many indicators have also been added or improved: keep better track of the frequency or quality of the Nile's floods with the Nilometer, or don't lose sight of your population's mood with some unique new tools!

Sudden urge to play Pharaoh. Install, start... unskippable intro.. watch for what feels like 10 minutes.. unskippable video still going.. ALT+F4, uninstall, go back to Factorio.
Figured after 3 years and the recent positive reviews they had fixed all their bugs. Game is still buggy, 60% completed. Defensive structures exist - Walls, Gates, Tower but provide no combat advantage Combat - Handled through a popup screen where the two armies auto run at each other and the larger force auto wins Aggressive animals (Crocodile, Hippos) are still in the game, but since there is 0 control over military on city map they just run rampent unless you want to box them in with small statues 3 damned years to fix the nostalgia of something they didn't even have to design from scratch, the concepts already existed...the team just got lazy in implementation. It's like playing a game redeveloped by interns hoping for a pat on the back.
As a long-time childhood fan of the original and a big fan of this remaster, I feel obligated to write a positive review after seeing so many bitter losers straight up lie about this game in their negative reviews. First off the game is essentially exactly what it promised to be with exactly one exception(I'll get to combat later). It's basically a one to one remake with updated graphics, engine, art, quality of life features, and toggle-able game play settings to bring it in line with the later more refined Impressions titles like Emperor and Zeus. Specifically, a toggle for global labor pool(default in later Impressions titles because the citizen job finding system never actually made much sense; I can build a single house and that gives access to the labor pool? It also mandated the construction of slums which makes the game harder and more unsatisfying without adding any actual depth of challenge.) and dangerous animals(which always sucked ass because the only way to deal with them...
Good game but so many bugs :(
It feels a little bit dumbed-down with the global labour pool and lack or real military. It's still enjoyable, but the difficulty is gone.
Childhood addiction remastered!
Great update on a classic city builder. If you liked the old game you'll love this game.
been playing this game since it got released in 2000. I'm so happy that they remade this game. Highly recommended if you love city-building games. experienced some difficulties playing this on my "not gaming laptop" which was surprising cause I was able to play Sims 4 on that laptop (no mods, of course). It keeps crashing giving me unity 2019 error. This is more like a me problem tho so. anyway love, love , love this game!!
