Grapple Dog is an entertaining romp with outstanding presentation. Positives: - Outstanding sprites, animation and aesthetic style. Everyone has really thick outlines that give off a really playful vibe. A lot of background elements react to your character's movement, which is a nice touch. - A good variety of environments, hazards and enemy types. - Simple controls that stay simple throughout. Negatives: - Even after beating the game and getting all the gems, I still don't feel like I have a great grasp of the controls. In-air controls are finicky and unpredictable and even the main grapple mechanics never quite feel as natural as they should. - Some level design, particularly in some of the bonus stages, seems almost cruel in its difficulty. Overall I had a great time with the game. I decided I won't be bothered to attempt the Time Trials, but I think Grapple Dog is a lot of fun for platformer fans who like cute character design and don't mind occasionally-frustrating c...

Doesn't respect your time. Every time you die, you lose all the collectibles (purple gems essential to progression) you've collected, so you end up having to re-do the secrets and special challenges again and again. It also doesn't let you save before boss fights, so you have to pass the entire preceding level to replay a boss fight in a later session.
The platforming is so frustrating to work with especially when it stops all of your momentum making the entire experience so stiff its harder than the tombstone this game should be in. Feel how the game feels especially when you think you're picking up speed, then your grapple hook stops you. Then that same grappling hook is also incredibly inconsistent in where it will land, what it'll connect to, and how it'll bring you to be hit. The last levels of the game ARE ABSOLUTELY HORRID because of this. It makes the "Challenge" of this world not the world itself, but struggling against the SHIT controls of this game
Really solid 2D platformer. The levels are cleverly designed, with secrets that strike a nice balance. Never too tough to track down, but still satisfying to uncover. Levels also tie in nicely with the time trials too, though Iβll admit the built-in endless jump can come in handy for those, haha. And honestly, grappling hooks just make any game more fun, and this one proves it. Had a great time with it overall and even went for the full 100%.
Cute doggy. 1,000,000,000 out of 10. Seriously though, this game has a very fun gameplay style, with levels that are challenging but fair. It feels so satisfying to swing on the grappling hook, smash robots, and collect fruits and gems.
what the dog doin
Amazing game!
This game is truly fantastic
For a platformer, the movement doesn't feel great. Movement in the air in particular is really rough.
Extremely well polished and casual game, you just jump in do a few levels and then get out. The time trials are EXTREMELY generous, like to the point where its... too generous honestly but it doesnt really matter i guess. All in all really good game especially if you are a "casual gamer". Using toenail as guitar pick right now.
