About This Game

Thrust Legend is a modern remake of the classic game "Thrust" by Jeremy C. Smith from 1986.

Navigate your spaceship through the perilous caverns of increasingly hostile planets. Your mission is to lock-on to the enemy's power pod with your ship's tractor beam and escape the planet's gravity to space. Enemy defenses are automatically activated by your proximity. Enemy defenses are powered by a power station. Shooting the power station will temporarily stun all enemy defenses. Be careful, the power station can only take so much damage. Destroying the power station will cause an explosion, who's blast wave will engulf the entire planet. Escape the planet before the shock-wave destroys you. Use you ship's shield to protect against enemy projectiles and soft impacts with cavern walls. You cannot shoot and use the shield at the same time. Use the ship's fuel extractor above fuel canisters to refuel. If you run out of fuel, it's Game Over.

Once a planet has been reached, it is unlocked and you can practice or continue playing from this point on later. Extra bonus points are awarded for destroying power stations. Extra points and achievement stars are awarded for completing the mission under a certain amount of time, fuel and without losing a life.
Playing in "Legendary Mode" starts a play-through from the beginning in order to chase a high score.

This remake contains

  • 6 original levels remastered and juiced!
  • 5 original reverse gravity levels remastered as underwater levels.
  • 6 completely new levels challenging your skills, and if that was not enough,
  • 6 brutal levels originally designed by Martin Burchell in 1992 as a mod of the original BBC-B ROM.
  • 6 underwater ( reverse gravity ) equivalents of the brutal levels. Simply ridiculous!
  • The soundtrack is an original composition "Thrust Legend" by Matt Gray

This is a keyboard only game.

  • Rotate Left - A
  • Rotate Right - S or D
  • Thrust - Shift
  • Shoot - Return
  • Tractor Beam / Fuel Extractor - Space
  • Pause - P
  • Quit - Escape
  • Menu Navigation - Cursor Keys, Return, Escape

Wot and seriously?!! Nobody review this 21st Century Thrust clone yet? Why on earth not?? It's simply GORGEOUS and bloody hard too... OK, let's go back to that word I used earlier being "clone" as that was simply a play on words to get your attention and perhaps lift up an eyebrow or two...this game is NOT a clone but in fact a brand NEW version of THRUST and it is in some ways even harder than the original 1986 Jeremy C. Smith (Superior Software) BBC Micro version. In fact, let's take stock and say it is much harder than the original version but don't let that put you off from buying this game. If you seriously want a challenge then proceed to penetrate the underground chasms in search of the enemy's power pod and lock it under your ship with your gravity beam, then carefully "thrusting", negotiate your way carefully to the surface where you can (optionally) destroy the reactor and escape into space with a resounding scream of pure joy...raise your fist and yell - yay! To be h...

Best Thrust game I've played in the last 30-odd years. Perfect music, graphics and gameplay. It's a tough little game, but if you like this sort of thing you know you will keep coming back for more. Very happy to have it in my library.

A wonderful remake of the BBC Micro classic. It faithfully recreates the original planets whilst adding little more challenge in normal play and really forces you to use the shields alot more. The scoring system has also been improved. Childhood Nostalgia Peaks!

Old enough to remember original. Feel this has been over-produced; less attention to graphics & more to game play would have produced much better game.

Massive Retro goodness... I played the original Thrust to death on C64 and loved Gravitar on Atari 2600. Incredibly, this game is WAY better than the official Atari Gravitar Recharged. Works great on my Xbox 360 controller too. The zoom feature is cool and the music is not depressing like Gravitar Recharged and Pixel Junk Shooter. Finally a Thrust game worth putting the hours of practice into. LOVE IT!

A great version of the BBC B game which I remember fondly.. Very challenging but certainly warrants just one more go..oh and cheap as chips

Great remake of the classic Thrust, but I do have a couple of things I dont like. Would be nice to choose your control keys as I found that Z & X dont work, I had to use Z & Y (not good). I also felt that gravity was a little too quick to react on the ship, other than that, nice game :)
