It is with a heavy heart that I announce that sadly the developer, Richard Myles, of this game passed away recently after suffering a Heart Attack. Foxen Island was a passion project for him and he has invested thousands of hours into it's development over many years. I know he'd made several improvements and updates to this game since it's last update on steam but sadly now these will not see the light of day. Richard was an incredibly talented, kind and caring man and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Foxen Island is nice and pretty chill, for the most part. Nice animation and sounds. Play as the Foxen! I really want to like it I doooo, but it gave me a massive headache and upset my tummers. My brain doesn't like this camera motion + controls. Not to mention the background is blurry, and closer to the Foxen and foreground it is sharp and clear. That weird contrast just hurts, it's very offensive. I haven't felt this sick in a long time, but perhaps it simply needs some polish? Maybe I'm just old and weak, who knows? There's a possibility that this negative review is more a reflection of my own malaise and poor health. Am I just lashing out? So many questions. Will return to it when more of the game is released and [strike]let you know if it kills me[/strike] hopefully update my review.
Hello, your local fox here! I decided to try this on my stream as the first game for my weekly iteration of Foxxy Fridays on Twitch. The first game I ever streamed was a game called Lost Ember, and this gave me those vibes, but to a far more simplistic extent. It's a cute game to explore, and I think would be more captivating to a younger audience, than one well-versed with video games. However, I know the game is still in early access, so I am excited to see what more will be added to the final version. I finished the game (early access) in a little over an hour, and was able to obtain 10/11 achievements, however, I was not able to access "Photo mode" to get the last achievement, which was really frustrating, as you can imagine. One other thing that would be really cute to add, is the ability for the fox to sit in the throne chairs. Could just be a little animation where the fox jumps to the seat and sits proudly or something. But here was my experience with that: https://clips.twitch...
It is a cute game. I had 100% in like 40 minutes but it was well made i enjoyed it. I hope for future updates!
FoxMania: The Quest To Review All Fox Games On Steam!
Conditions for inclusion:

-The player character must be consistently a fox; the fox must not be merely a skin or a character optiond
-Must have 100% working Steam achievements
-Must not be a visual novel
Game #29: Foxen Island This early access shovelware has been abandoned since 2021. You're stuck in a small valley. The only gameplay is a scavenger hunt for a few items and locations. Camera and movement controls feel slow and wobbly. Controller support only half-works, which I imagine is just boilerplate Unity functionality. Haven't even played for an hour, but I encountered two game-breaking bugs: one made the fox get stuck in a cutscene and endlessly walk into a rock, the other made the screen fade to black forever. The achievement for collecting journal pages is broken. The current map represents the season of summer. More maps were supposedly meant to be added, but t...
I really enjoyed this game! Cant wait until it is finished
honestly very cute, but it made me get motion sickness
If the devs continue the game this way, I'm sure it will be marvellous. It's pretty relaxing, the graphics are simple by stunning. The map is small so far, but there's lots to find... including human skeletons. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over that, though. The game autosaves along the way, so if you get stuck somewhere, as I did a couple of times, just exit the game and then go Continue Game from the menu. It'll return you to the starting point, but as I said it's a small map so you don't have far to go. This is a 3D game, so if those kinds of games make you dizzy or nauseated then this isn't for you. But if you want an exploration game where you play as a fox, with various things to eat, dig up, and very low stakes so far, this is for you.
Really enjoyed the experience, the colour pallet is beautiful the sound effects totally fitting and game pace, perfect. I really look forward to seeing the future levels and puzzles :)
Very relaxing experience, I really enjoyed the casual but stylish atmosphere. The sound effects were really well done and all felt appropriate, the graphics are super charming - although my PC is very low-end, so I wasn't able to experience them in their full glory. I also loved the various collectibles and secret areas, I sorely miss games with a lot of secrets to find like the old collect-athon era. I just about found everything (I think), but I'll definitely be coming back when the updates release! There was lots to explore, several hidden areas, etc., so I felt very compelled to explore. The cutscenes were really well done, polished, and they felt like a great reward for exploring different areas. I'd like to see a few more secrets be found moreso in center areas of the map, rather than the majority being just scattered near the edges of the map. Mainly to balance things out and give players reason to experience the entire map evenly, so they don't get to miss out on all the fanta...
