About This Game

The town of Moonbury has always been wary of the advances of the outside world, preferring to rely on their traditional methods of healing. Until one day, when the mayor's daughter falls ill, and the local witch doctor can do nothing to help her, they are forced to look outside their small community for help.

The Medical Association decides to send their most accomplished chemist - you - to help cure the mayor's daughter and convince the residents of Moonbury of the wonders of modern alchemy. Gain their trust and tend to each person when they fall ill in this open-ended sim RPG.

  • Take care of residents. Moonbury has around 30 unique inhabitants who will occasionally fall ill and call for your aid. Sick residents will have their schedules interrupted while they recuperate in bed.

  • Diagnose symptoms and find a cure! Hmm... a low heart rate and a bloated liver. Shoulder cramps, perhaps? No, these are sure signs of burning lungs. This patient has been consuming too much gelatin! Easily remedied; you'll just need to craft some Minty Goblet.

  • Gather ingredients out in the world. Once you've decided on a potion, ointment, or salve, gather ingredients from the surrounding environment using your tools. Upgrade your hammer, axe, and sickle for new swings and attacks to help with your day-to-day tasks. Watch out for changing weather conditions! You may find yourself caught out in the rain, a freezing blizzard, or even the baking heat of a desert.

  • Confront nasty monsters for their materials. Sometimes you won't be able to gather the materials you need as easily as harvesting a berry bush, and you'll need to turn your trusty tools into weapons to collect materials from the monsters prowling the nearby wilderness. Combat is in real-time and, since you're a chemist, you'll be able to brew various concoctions to buff yourself or inflict status ailments on your adversaries, as well as various tools to aid you.

  • Brew remedies in your cauldron. The ingredients you gather can be mixed in your cauldron to brew medicine, vitamins, and more. As you become more experienced, higher-level recipes will become available, requiring more ingredients but bestowing stronger effects. Enhance your cauldron to concoct more ingredients into your recipes for these more advanced remedies.

  • Build relationships with the townsfolk. It'll take a little while, but your patients' health will be much better thanks to your efforts. Your reputation with them will increase, and they'll open up to you a little more. You may even find yourself growing particularly close to certain bachelors or bachelorettes.

  • Upgrade the town and surrounding areas. Building relationships with townsfolk increases your approval rating allowing you to improve the area by improving public buildings and expanding the explorable areas around the town. You can also craft and buy new furniture to give your home a personal touch!

  • Enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. In the downtime between treating the community's ailments, you'll be able to freely explore in and around Moonbury. Get to know the inhabitants a little better, take a rest in the tavern, or go fishing to catch something for dinner. Moonbury is a delightfully charming location where time seems a little slower and life is just a little more relaxed than the big city. While the lighting will change throughout the day, with the bright sun streaking across the meadows in the morning and street lamps illuminating the town in the early evening, there are no time limits for game objectives. You are free to go at your own pace and take it easy.

  • Spend time with a faithful companion. You didn't relocate to Moonbury alone! With you every step of the way is your loyal dog companion. Your pet can help you locate hidden items and point you in the direction of residents as they go about their day.

Its grindy, repetetive and lacks a lot of charm. The NPCs are not fleshed out, neither is the story. The pace is incredibly slow, too slow actually and after 4 hours I feel like Ive seen anything and its simply not worth the grind. The game also suffers tremendously from your character having no voice as there is already so little immersion and interaction. Sad, because you having a clinic kinda seemed like a fresh idea.

I played the demo when it initially came out, and decided to see if the full version, years later, had improved from my first impressions. The short answer is, not really. Default controls are so... confusing. Who plays games like this? J to attack? K to activate? Granted you CAN REBIND them, but it shouldn't be that way to begin with its an extra unnecessary step. Happy to see that you can actually use the mouse now though, but prompts always show the keyboard controls instead of the mouse buttons. Character customization is lacking in a lot of ways, the handful of colors you can pick for some things but not others is such a weird choice. No blue eyes, only a handful of colors even look good on the clothes or cape. Should have used a Chroma Wheel or HSV sliders. Zero pet customization unless you consider naming the pet as customization. No breeds, no color, just the same mutt you're forced to have tag along. Room customization is pointless, tons of items cant even be rotated and I...

Devs, instead of updating the game, just released a bunch of dlc content and then dipped, all of it should've been a free update. Absolutely unacceptable to not even finish the game, just quietly marking the game off of early access and leaving. A spit in the face to the fans and their supporters. Its very pretty or whatever but its all surface level. No deep conversations, mostly repeated dialog, played for 2 hours and only got repeated dialog. I got soo bored talking to people.Fields of mystra is sooooooo much better. Also the whole town is awful to you in the beginning 'work harder' I barely got here, all they do is stand around or gamble. There's only so far pretty graphics can take you.

Potion Permit is a charming and refreshingly earnest entry into the life sim genre, offering a unique spin on familiar mechanics by casting you as a chemist rather than a farmer or adventurer. Set in the quaint town of Moonbury, the game asks you not to grow crops or slay monsters, but to diagnose and treat the ailments of townspeople through alchemy. It’s a premise that immediately sets it apart, and over the course of its relaxed, open-ended progression, Potion Permit delivers an experience that is both soothing and engaging, with plenty of heart, if a few rough edges. The game begins with your arrival in Moonbury, a town that’s long distrusted outside medical professionals. Your presence is met with skepticism, but as you start curing residents and helping the town recover from illnesses, attitudes begin to shift. This central theme—of earning trust and helping others through your work—adds an emotional resonance to what could otherwise be a purely mechanical loop. Rather t...

I'm a sucker for a good cozy game, and I think Potion Permit is a great example of the genre. In my time playing, I have yet to complete the game, and it will probably be a decent amount of time before I do (which I consider a good thing). Most cozy games have some emphasis on relationships, but the villagers are one of, if not THE most important part of this game. What I absolutely love about this game is the bits and pieces of dialogue that reference real ailments that the villagers need help with, along with the accompanying bits that mention how your potions don't have the power to magically cure their issues, they also have to take steps to take care of their health. Because there's so much emphasis on relationship building, the game progresses slowly, forcing you to really take in each day and make the most of your time. There's quite a few quality of life features that help to keep things moving, like teleportation checkpoints, a way to locate specific villagers, alerts for p...

Its okay i guess, but i will move on... After 10 hours you probably seen everything the game will give you. - To much grind - way to easy for my taste - some of the chorse feels tidious/pointless - you can not date the Nun - you can only date a hand full for that fact The characters and what they do + there daily schedule is great and the dialogs are good too but not enoth to carry the entire game. For a alchemist game its to tidious and for a farm sim its to little. I sadly can not recommend it.

The pixel art is BEAUTIFUL. It's clearly a labor of love. The dog is cute (but max friendship with it happens quickly). The potion making mechanic is interesting. However, the gameplay loops are tedious - speak to everyone daily to raise their friendship meter (dialog is repetitive and lacks depth), all the mini games are extremely easy, combat and resource acquisition is just button smashing at the same places every day, there's one resource that is used as a 'gift' that everyone loves. This game is a series of chores without challenge or variety. Progress via repeated chores unlocks a couple new areas where you can do the same chores. Gather resources via chores to improve your tools so that you can do more chores more efficiently and gather more resources. The only space for creativity is decorating your bedroom in the house.

a very cute cozy game that's small in scope compared to some of the other heavy-hitters in the genre. but still, an enjoyable, cozy experience that isn't too demanding. the negative reviews put me off this game for awhile but i finally gave it a shot and i personally don't regret it. it was also refreshing to have a cozy life sim that didn't really involve farming mechanics

I really liked this game at first, it's cute and has some interesting game play but after a while it felt too easy. Then it just felt slow. There's no challenge, you start your day with all the patients you'll have and it's usually like... 2 people max so there's little to no urgency. Once you've healed them they just kinda sit there until the next day. I suppose sometimes you don't have an ingredient but it's so simple to go get it that it really doesn't amount to much more than going to grab that quick and finishing. No one gets injured or sick during the day for some reason, they all just happen at night and it shows up the next day which is funny because there's a little alarm siren on the UI to tell you if there's someone sick waiting for you. It never goes off. Largely it's a collect-a-thon, I do more scavenging than anything else which would be fine if it were better balanced. If there were more stakes, more events, more issues... if there was some driving conflict at ALL besi...

This game is pretty fun for me. Lots of grinding to do, yes, but pretty relaxing. A pretty good choice of other Stardew Valley game alternative with different unique concept. Perfect for those who wanna play game like Stardew Valley but are bored with Farming. There're some things i wish this game would have & i hope the dev would have it in the future: 1. It would be really helpful if the grinding loot quantity could be improve or the crafting cost being decrease a bit to make this game less stressful. Because too much grinding kinda dull eventually 2. This game would be so so much great with Marriage & having children. 3. I don't know if this could be fixed or not, but i kinda feel like the male romanceable characters need to be improved. As i'm getting to know each of them in the game, i kinda feel almost all of them are kinda creepy & unattractive. Making it kinda unbalance compare to the female romanceable characters. Maybe the Dev could do something about this. 4. Need more ...
