The game is pretty on point if you need some Nostalgia from the 90's, But i found most of the animations to be Overboard, took half the screen, you can't even see where you're aiming with your special abilities and you have to be using them all the times because the towers, in this tower defense are not really the focal point of the game. The Balance is way off, with first waves of every map being full to the brim so you have send everything and the kitchen sink at it to scrape by, and then after 2-3 waves you're drowning in money, have built every tower available and updated it to the max, and you're back to spamming your special ability because there is nothing else to do on the map. I'm a very seasoned TD player, and there are way better options out there for the asking price, buy it only if you miss growing up in the 90's and all the clichés attached to it.
At its current price of £5.19 Bugvasion is actually under priced. I can count on one finger how many times I've said that when reviewing a game recently... Just once and just for this. It's a lot of fun and a game in which i'm sure fans of 'Tower Defense' strategy games would delight in playing. I'm not typically a fan of said type of games, but enjoyed this anyway. Buy it. You won't be disappointed. https://youtu.be/_1YZUe9yw9s
Kind of fun. Has a great look, and excellent fluff. A tech tree, always nice, and good music and voice work. On the down side, the maps seem a bit cramped, and I have had issues with levels getting stuck and not loading, and having to quit out. Going back in always seems to work though. Easy to give one thumbs up. Once I have a few more levels under my belt, might upgrade to two.
Despite not having many reviews I bought this game because I saw a good review on youtube. I like tower defense games but most of them are rubbish. The first thing I noticed is that a lot of attention has gone to the presentation of bugvasion. The graphics and sound are really good. There's even a story here. I didn't pay attention to it but the fact that this developer, who I don't know but might as well be working out of his mom's basement, even put the effort in to make a story for a tower defense game and actually put effort into it's presentation tells me zir wants to make something beyond a cookiecutter soulless tower defense game. After a few levels it seemed to me that's all it was: all sizzle and no steak (or how does the saying go?). The level design seemed lazy and the game felt very very easy to me. After seting the game to the high difficulty and getting to later levels I learned how wrong I was. You'll need to use some decent strategy getting past the latter half of the g...
As far as small, focused tower defense games go - this one is fairly good.
I love the art style! Gameplay and sounds working very well too! Good job!
