About This Game
Everyone is afraid of what lurks in the dark...
Especially the residents of New Yorkshire, a supposedly peaceful town - that is until it's suddenly running rampant with ghouls and ghosts! And somehow you are the center to solving this madness, which would be easier said than done if you knew why you found yourself drawn to this hellish city!
Seeking refuge at the local High School, you meet up with a torn bunch of survivors who are sceptical of your arrival but depend on your help. Can you figure out the mystery before the zombies or, indeed themselves, tear themselves to shreds?!
Fear Of The Dark is a 16-BIT tribute to classic survival horror games from the late 90s.
- Survive hordes of the undead and terrifying bosses!
- Collect ammo, MediPaks, and antidotes to survive!
- Find tools like knives and explosive devices to help give you an edge in combat!
- Use herbs to create powerful elixirs to raise your stats!
- Overcome a wide variety of devious puzzles!
- Uncover the horrors within...

User Reviews
I wanted to play the game but I couldn't get past title screen. I'm stuck listening to the midi cover of "In the House in a Heartbeat" from "28 Days Later".
This was such a sweet little game. RPG Maker games are what got me into horror gaming in the first place, so I like to find some to support indie devs because I firmly believe that games don't have to be super intricate and polished to be fun. I have a couple small criticisms, mostly just that there was a bug where sometimes if I died and reloaded my autosave, it would load me right to the game over screen. Lost about half a playthrough like that. Just make sure to have multiple saves. The other is that I think there were far to many ghosts and sandworms popping up everywhere. Sometimes only a step or two apart! Got a little tedious, even though you can run away, which I honestly did most of the time. Aside from that this was a great time! Definitely check it out if you're into RPG Maker horror at all. Totally worth it.
UPDATES: The dev replied to my review with updates on fixes for the game breaking bugs and some quality of life improvements. So I change to a recommended. However, it's still kind of borderline. I'd wait for a sale. A decent horror game that has several grammatical issues, and TWO game breaking bugs (Why I don't recommend it right now.) Once those are fixed my review will change. Also, the game maps are missing some doors, and it's often not clear what to do next. If you must buy, wait for a sale at the very least.
