This game is honestly pretty addicting! I've finished the campaign once on easy and twice on normal, and got an okay score on Endless mode. [EDIT: This was on written on launch day. I've played much more since.] Great game! Glad I picked it up, The puzzle-style gameplay is pretty easy to pick up and understand, definitely a bit easier than something like PuyoPuyo where you have to master combo setups. The unique offensive blocks for each opponent adds an interesting twist to every round. Right now, the only problem I have with it is that it seems to exit fullscreen and return to windowed mode whenever I go back to the main menu, so I have to go into options and hit 'fullscreen' again (though it makes me hit the button twice, like it thinks I'm still in full for some reason) [EDIT: This seems to be fixed] Anyways, great game!

I'd like to preface this by saying I'm a huge fan of Naka Teleeli as a Youtuber, and am really interested to see how he develops as a game dev. As for Tofu Topple itself, it is a decently put together competitive puzzle game that is relatively simple to pick up. Gameplay involves a match 3 style puzzle where you pick up and place pieces to form matches to score points. You can set up combos where clearing one match can cause other matches to occur and different playable characters have different special attack pieces they can send over to their opponent to screw with them or steal points. The goal of a given match is to reach a certain amount of points faster than your opponent, which is unlike a lot of other competitive puzzle games I've seen where the idea is to fill your opponent's board with garbage until they run out of room, like Puyo Puyo. This different victory method makes me feel this game is a lot more beginner friendly, and gives room for different types of playstyles, ra...
Tofu Topple is a competitive puzzle game that is highly enjoyable. And is an easy recommend to anyone who has fond memories of Arcade VS. Puzzle games. In this match three gem game, you have several characters to choose from, and from chaining matches or making several matches in a row they will send over character specific garbage blocks to the opponent. Instead of pushing the opponent off the top of the screen (though it is still a valid win condition) the main focus on the game is to be the first to reach a set score goal known as quota, and the unique trash blocks that each character sends will either give you score when the opponent clears them, or stalls to give you time to pull ahead. It is in this regard that the character that you select matters more to your opponent then you, as your opponent is the one that deals with the character specific blocks, this makes mastery of all the different block types crucial to becoming very skilled at the game, as quick thinking on how deal...
A fantastic little puzzle game, pretty clearly a work of passion! the gameplay fits right in among the greats like Tetris or Puyo Puyo. The characters are diverse and wonderful, but there's little story which sounds like a negative, but rather works to its advantage. The game feels like a spin-off, where you're expected to know the information and gets down to the meat of it which leaves the characters feeling set and complex. Since this is a puzzle game first and foremost, little story is hardly an issue but I do hope there comes future instalments that actually explore the plotlines hinted during this game. I concede I haven't played a massive amount so I might just be missing something unlocked later. I only have two gripes with the game that can easily be fixed, and hopefully will be in a future update. First is that fullscreen doesn't seem to work. It'll display in fullscreen for a moment but then as soon as you return to the menu it returns to windowed. Secondly, there is no ...
This game takes a new spin on gem drop games. It is very charming and is meant to be played through multiple times to unlock different unique characters. I have enjoyed playing through it several times. My only critique is that I wish the tutorial automatically loaded at the start of the campaign and then was an option in the menu to repeat it after the first time though. I didn't see the tutorial the first time and was quite lost on the controls until I backed out and found the tutorial section that I had missed.
