About This Game

Frag is a roguelike gridless turn-based game of tactical combat. Kill the enemy. Grab the loot. Craft new gear. Level up your team. Learn new skills. If you lose a single match, you are done. How long can you survive?

Gridless turn-based tactical combat

Frag tries to capture the experience of miniature wargaming. Use distances and templates to measure range and movement. Units activate one at a time, in an order determined by their statistics. Attacks hit or miss based on a percent roll, that is influenced by a unit’s stats, weapons and skills.

Intuitive cover system

Cover is your friend. Cover keeps you alive. If you are in cover, enemies cannot shoot you. This does not prevent you from shooting them, though. Watch your units pop out of cover, attack their target, then pop back in.

Specialized skills and gear

Winning a match requires much more than just shooting. Defend your position deploying automated turrets, shield your teammates with energy barriers, buff your units or hack into enemy droids.

Customize your team

Between each match, your team can gain new gear and skills. Each unit can choose a different class, each one with its skill progression. Find the right combination of classes and skills, synergies and combos to multiply your team’s strength and cancel out each individual unit’s weaknesses.

Early release, so this isn't the final verdict by any means... but already now, this is shaping up to be a tactical turn-based fan's wet dream. The cover system with peek-a-boo points is genius and puts XCOM to shame. graphics are good, and the skill building trees look very promising. It's great how you have to earn your Overwatch skill. :) A couple of points for improvement as far as I am concerned: - not a huge fan of the endless spawn/extract thing. I get it. I do. But it seems to take some strategic elements out of the game regarding positioning when you have to expect another wave spawning behind you in 2 turns. - weapon ranges. I don't see any reason why a standard issue rifle can't fire across the map (given a viable LOS). Sure, make the to-hit % low. But why can't I fire at a target 1m outside of the current articial arc? What, the bullets don't fly that far? Devs, you have my permission to continue developing this into perfection! Steamers, buy this now, it's a rough cut d...

The devs have something here. There are some bugs. The text is a bit small. It needs a more robust tutorial. But, for 6 dollars I think this is worth playing around worth as they improve it. It's tactical in a way most "tactical" skirmish games aren't. Aside from the bugs, it makes sense.

It's a solid start. I'm always keeping my eye out for games that blend tabletop and digital. This movement and LoS mechanics give it that tabletop feel. The actual combat is functional but a little flat. It's the first day of an Early Access release and for $6 I'm glad I've given it a try. I'll be keeping my eye on future updates. On my wishlist I'd like to see greater unit customization options, special abilities and map customization options. Obviously multiplayer would be nice, either hotseat online.

The possibilities with this are exciting but right now the game is an unpolished mess. I didn't realise that the last update was in September. This game needs a lot of work, I'd like to give criticism to the developers because I want this game to be great.

A Little buggy but, different from a lot of tactical games. Devs got something going here but, for $6 definitely worth the pick up. Can do some customization of the armor/ color. As well as pick classes for your troops. I would recommend it.

A great game I've sunk a lot of time to. Already running strong for Pre-Alpha with only one major bug I've noticed so far. However, this bug is very annoying as it basically destroys your run. For some reason, one of your soldiers can't kill anything, otherwise the game hard crashes. Other than that bug, which will hopefully be worked out very soon, this game is great for only five dollars.

Controls are too clunky unfortunately. Selecting the enemy with the mouse is a pixel hunt. My personal opinion of course.
