I thought I was going to really like this one. The positives: pleasing, pseudo-8-bit pixel art graphics, nice music, central mechanics are straight out of one of my favorite games (Super Mario Bros. 3), and you play as a lesbian. Unfortunately, it was a lot of little things that killed it for me. Why is the title screen jarringly HD when everything else is pixel art? Why is there voice acting, and why is it so dreadful? Why does the game still auto-duck the music volume when characters talk when you turn voices completely off? Why is it so heavily modeled after SMB3, but you can't wag your tail to slow your fall? Why do you go so ridiculously fast when you slide down a slope? Why do you get pushed off of ledges when you're standing within a few pixels of the very edge? Why are so many animations way too slow for what's going on? Why are the sound effects so muddy and lifeless? If you think you can look past these shortcomings, I say still give it a go, but I couldn't.

great writing, fun voice acting, really cute pixel art! no notes on any of that. the first act gameplay is really nice, however the second act really feels unpolished and "just there for added runtime", my list of annoyances with it are as follows: • no buffer for dash attacks, extremely hard to time for speed • why does running also attack, that's an entirely separate action? • holding movement after a dash-attack slows you down, game becomes about momentum conservation from attacks • sometimes i don't get my jump back after dash-attacking an enemy? • attacking while jumping on an enemy's head feels like it has a 50/50 chance of jumping vs. killing them, it's probably not but it makes it really hard to plan a jump after that, since in one case you have to hold jump and the other you have to press afterwards • the dash-attacks have no buffering on them which makes it really hard to hit them quickly (e.g. dash → jump) • is the down+run groundpound ever tutorialized? i g...

I have a mixed opinion about this game. To be clear, the recommend was not a misclick, I maintain that stance. But of course, there's pluses and minuses. On the plus side, the game's plot and voice acting is very cute. My friend and I as we blind played through together had some great laughs and genuinely enjoyed the story and all of its very amusing inability to have any subtlety. It's gay foxgirls being cute in a love triangle. Yeah, of course. The actual platforming in this platforming game leaves me much more mixed. The game has very floaty controls, Yuzu herself slides like Luigi in the middle of an ice level, even on grass. The water levels might as well instantly kill you if you lose the one powerup that makes them at all playable. The level design definitely lacks the nintendo level of polish that existed even back in the NES days of SMB3, the game this is heavily based on. All of that said, I still enjoyed my time. The story kept me going through and while world 2 is defin...

I was gifted this video game by a friend of mine, and have no affiliation with the developers. Personally, I was really excited to enjoy this game. And It's a cute, fun, nostalgic game! Don't get me wrong. I just can't bring myself to enjoy it- - The Floaty Controls Yuzu is controlled (by default) with the X being jump, Z being sprint, and arrow keys being your directional movement. Prepare for your pinky to hurt, because sprinting is default speed in other games, making everything feel nonresponsive. - The Music The music is a nice touch for a little bit, but it feels like there isn't enough selection. Multiple tracks are repeated in quick succession, leaving my wanting to turn down the music. - The Voice Actors They're nice! They sound nice! But they feel out of place with the unmoving character portraits. - "Fairness" Multiple times I have called the games fairness into question. World 2-5 strikes me as a particularly unfair level - with a trust fall, then a getting-over-it style...
