This is a truly awesome game! If you like Tower Defense games at all, you have to get this one. Not only can you play with the help of someone else on your computer, you can play alone in VR. I really like how the VR player can actually go from tabletop Tower Defense, and get immersed in the action by transforming into the map, and help your towers fight the invaders. My only complaint thus far is even in normal difficulty, it is still very difficult to progress to the different stages. I hope the developer gives the old guys like me an Easy version soon. Awesome graphics as well at a great price of less than $20.

About This Game
Automata Break is a local-multiplayer Tower Defense game for VR:
The Tower Defense player will adopt the strategic role of the Tactical Drone to place defenses and use special abilities to stop and destroy the Automata, while the First Person Shooter player in VR, the Robotic Operator, will fight the Automata directly with different weapons to prevent their escape.
You can fully play either on single player or local co-op.
Key Features
🔹 Asymmetrical Multiplayer: One game, two different ways to play
🔹 Local co-op VR: embody the Robotic Operator in VR or the Tactical Drone with your mouse and keyboard.
🔹 Chaotic Single Player Mode: Play both roles at the same time in VR, place towers in the map, then get into the map to fight the enemies directly at any time.
🔹 Buy and Upgrade your VR weapons and towers during the game, plan out your build for each level.
🔹 Special Tactical Drone abilities like teleporting the VR player anywhere on the map, or firing a giant missile on the map.
🔹 Mutators: Modify the mechanics of the game and completely change the game experience.
🔹 Challenge yourself with the two different difficulty levels for each stage.
Soundtrack
We are working with composer/producer Mike Fortu from the worldwide known electronic music duo "Fortu & Mendoza", as well as audio engineer Diego Mercado, and data-driven composer/producer Carlos Ramirez, to craft a powerful and dynamic soundtrack that will change with the different phases of the game.
Story
In the year 2457 Humanity has achieved inter stellar travel and colonized solar systems near our own with a revolutionary AI system: The Automata. An anti AI rebel group has created a virus to corrupt and steal Automata from one of our Network Planets. The infected Automata must be stopped and neutralized before the technology can be used to endanger the public. Support the local AI (A.O.M.I) and use our specialized weaponry to prevent any escape from happening.

This is a great game, it's really good for showing people the ropes of VR too! The replayability is also really good, and the music really bops too. With the multiplayer mode pc/vr using the same pc is really cool too. A definite 10/10 game!
EDIT: While some of what I said when I wrote this review not too long after the game launched is still true, the developer is releasing updates it appears to improve the game experience beyond what is already really fun. Keep it up! Played for a little while with my wife using the co-op desktop/VR mode. The game has a lot of potential and is fun as-is, however, I hope the dev adds additional guns and dynamics to the game play. The skill tree is cool but needs more branches and powerups. I would prefer more powerups and skill branches NOW... even if it means they are unbalanced and a bit unpolished. It would also be nice to have new environment textures but honestly if you could just increase the weapon and power variety a bunch I would look past so many other things. Worth the money now, but only if the dev plans on updating things to keep us interested.
Quite fun game. It still needs some work, but performancewise it runs really well. The soundtrack is great, and replayability is absolutely given.
While a Native Online Multiplayer would be great. I have to say, it's a really fun game to jump into. The idea of being able to make it 2-player through 1 person controlling the combat armor and 1 person On overwatch setting down towers is a great way to get more people involved.
so far this is a great game and is fun with others i can't wait to see what they will do with this game!
Haha turrets go pewpewpew! Memes aside: so far nice but could be much better.
<---THIS GUY USES WMR! This game is a pleasant mix of tower defense and FPS. Top down view of the map where you can place and upgrade your towers, varying lanes keep you thinking. Once your done placing your towers you can teleport into a first person view and use different weapons to help your towers destroy the enemy. Seems polished for a new early access release. I believe this game needs different upgrade paths for the towers. To be able to choose between having my missal tower fire an extra rocket or increasing aoe range or just range in general. That would bring more depth. That was just an example. I recommend this title for fans of the genre.
Abandoned game.
Fun game but full of glitches and problems. If you can get past those it is a great game to play with someone else. The other big issue **spoiler start** is no BIG boss at the end. The last level feels almost the same as the previous. **spoiler end** Overall yes, play the game. Just don't expect it to be the best game ever.
