I love a game that wears its influences on its sleeve unapologetically Vladik Brutal does exactly that, dropping nods to its Half-Life roots in memorable ways. If you're craving that golden age of game design but paired with slick, modern shooting mechanics, this is your jam. The recoil takes a moment to get used to, but once you do, It’s so damn good. The setting drips with atmosphere from dilapidated Soviet panel blocks to murky underground labs all drenched in a grim aesthetic that’s equal parts nostalgic and original. For one solo developer, the ambition here is staggering: expect 7 to 8 hours of action, puzzles, vehicle segments, platforming, and secrets galore. Yes, it's rough sometimes. Voice acting and translation can feel early access, and level design occasionally leans toward routines like "press a button, open a door." Enemy AI can be brutal and punishing. Yet none of that undercuts the core fun: fast, visceral gunplay with ragdoll carnage that feels spectacular somet...

Was playing it for a bit, thinking "Yeah this is an ok Half-life-like I guess, maybe a bit too heavy on constantly wiggling environmental effects" then just before I hit 2 hours in, pretty much the first bit of post-intro dialogue is "Hey put this password in "1488-228" which seems pretty deliberate so I quit. Had it sitting in my steam library for too long to refund, oh well risks of playing a russian game I guess

After 30 unsuccessful attempts to get to a battery via crossing some vats with wind propellers, I've given up (I kept falling just short of the targeted platform!!!) ( I ended up wondering if this was a bug). For me, the game seemed like overkill anyway. There is just too much going on. Between the environmental ground clutter and the odd bodkin menagerie of adversaries, the game is a mess, a shamble of disorderly chaos. Even the soundtrack is cluttered. I had to turn off the sound after 20 minutes of listening to an endless loop of a pig squeal, distant hammering, a dog barking, and a woman somewhere off in the distance screaming.... But worst of all, for me anyway: how did all these mutations occur just hours after the industrial accident??? Am I too suspend all reality and just accept the fact that a million years of genetic mutation occurred spontaneously? I can only suspend reality so much before I feel offended by affected gimmickry. With that being said, the game is...

Very underrated game it's actually quite good, specially since it was made by 1 person alone, definitely worth your time!

it's hard for me to recommend this game, for a project made by one person it's good, i'm sure it took a lot of effort to make the game, but if we look at it without that context the game is the definition of fine, it's like eating only white bread for breakfast lunch and dinner, the guns are ok, have good sound design but they are bland and feel week, why do we have 2 assault rifles that are both mostly the same, the double barrel is pointless, the regular shotgun is better for any situation < played on normal difficulty > , the enemies are just dull, they feel like asset flips and are very frustrating to fight, they go down in just a few shots but they are just too fast, especially the jumping guys, when they get next to you they tend to jump over your head so it's really hard to reacquire target, the bosses are ok i guess, nothing to write home about, the graphics are technically impressive, but they are dull and boring from a design standpoint and the lighting makes everything too d...

Much better than expected "Half-Like". All guns are fun to shoot and the blood/gore system is very impressive. I played the entire game on Steam Deck which works really well. The game even has a Steam Deck graphics preset. However, the outdoor segments mostly drop the framerate below 60 and there were two random parts that went into 10-20 fps. Fortunately though, those were very brief areas without combat.

VLADiK BRUTAL is a must-buy for fans of classic, fast-paced shooters like DOOM and Half-Life. The game is packed with brutal action, satisfying gunplay, and a cool, gritty atmosphere. It's an awesome indie game that delivers a ton of fun for a great price. Highly recommended!

I like it, the shotgun can reach far away which is true in real life, it is so refreshing having a shotgun that can shoot enemies from far away, crazy how even AAA games don't make shotgun like this. One thing I don't like is the storming to the palace, it's really pain in the butt since the enemies didn't stop respawning, you just need to quickly run inside and hope for the best. Also, I wonder who's the ghost girl are, whether it is just a easter egg/reference from F.E.A.R or she's related to Vlad in some way, very interested.

Russian Half-Lite. Even with some issues, i had a blast with this one, considering that it was made by one person. The story was like a side-dish and the ending criminally bad, but the gunplay and the variety of weapons are great.
