About This Game

Inspired by popular titles such as Amnesia: The Dark Decent, Alien: Isolation and Outlast – The Forsaken Ruins is a first-person atmospheric horror game. As prisoner of Ever-Bleed Keep, your chance to escape has come. Delve deep into the ruins and try to survive long enough to unravel its dark history and your true identity.

Story

“You are now no-one, left forsaken and accompanied only by the lies of your past life, scattered here. Seek out my red letters before claiming to understand your imprisonment… you may find my letters, but it would be wise not to lose yourself along the way.”

Tormented by an unknown entity, the prisoner is set to endure years of pain. No matter if she were to die or neglect her wrongdoings, this mysterious entity would keep her bound until she was worth to be judged once more. That day… has finally come.

Features

  • Immersive Sound
Multiple sound concepts are used such as obstruction, occlusion, and reverberation to simulate realistic environments.

  • Level Design
The Forsaken Ruins features multiple levels, including multi-story locations with appropriate planning towards AI movement and puzzles.

  • Interactive Puzzles
Solve Cursed Words and puzzles by interacting with the environment around you. Pick up objects and throw them to overcome challenging obstacles.

  • Monsters
Stay hidden or run away from monsters that otherwise dwell in dark corners of Ever-Bleed Keep.

  • Horror & Fear
Visual and sound design help create points of interest that will immerse the player into a much shadier world.

  • Narrative
Collect notes to unravel the dark history of Ever-Bleed Keep. Find out your true identity by uncovering cryptic passages held in you journal.

NOTE: The Forsaken Ruins is currently being developed as a university project, and so, will release as an Early Access title. I intend to keep working on the game even after university finishes upon release. As it stands, I have plans to refine the game-play and add more content in the future.

Amazing atmosphere that encapsulates you in a scary Amnesia esk style game. The darkness of some areas leaves you on the edge of your seat wondering what may be lurking in the mysterious darkness. The monster are truly scary when they approach you, even their presence around the areas is intimidating making you not want to move from the corner with your light out. The puzzles are fun and not too challenging as there is information to lead you in the correct direction but not enough to tell you exactly what to do. Love the game you can see a lot of love and hard work has gone into the creation of the forsaken ruins. I cant wait to see where the future will take this game good work!!

Hey, so, first off, this game is quite fun, took me a little while to figure out the overall 'puzzle' but I got there in the end :D I found 1 glitch/bug area that gets you out of bounds (though it doesn't do anything for the game and anyone playing it properly probably won't come across it) Room before you change to Level 2 from 1, the little arches on the side of the wall (with the triggered AI walking past you on the left hand side) I found if I got up to them and was able to crouch, after a persistent push I could get inside, and go from the side I was on, up and down, and then of course I dropped out of bounds completely into the void. Other than that, Solid start!! Scare Factor: You did get me a couple of times with the AI in the large room, I found the Warden wasn't to reactive overall, but the gremlin and unsighted definitely got me a few times!!! Looking forward to see how you finish the game later in development!! :)

Gosh! Jack, I hate you! I'm not a huge fan of scary games because ehm.. They scare me. However, I somehow ended up with this game on my wishlist and not long after an email notification that this is finally out on Early Access I have decided to buy it and give it a go. So what do I think? It's great! No, it really is. Don't expect fireworks and over the top game mechanics with super fancy graphics. This game is very simple to get into and straight away feel the atmosphere of it. Maybe one tip for the developers.. When all of the torches are switched off perhaps make it a 'tiny' bit more darker? It's still easy to see even with your own torch off. Would definitely add to the whole atmosphere a bit more. I'm not going to lie, I needed to go for a shower after playing this game because I was legit scared. I hope everyone else finds it the same. And that little note towards the end.. You bastards! Hopefully whatever I recorded is good enough and I will share my own view on this on the...

Finding a wholly unique game in today's market can often present several challenges across many fields. From story - to animation - to gameplay - even the 'big boys', those triple A companies many of us have grown fond of over the years, begin to fall into the category of an entirely underwhelming experience. What you find here, however, is a carefully considered game that merges old ideas with a new, innovative, young, and exciting mind from which this games developer has arrived with a newfound sense of vigour that reaffirms their clear investment in one thing... ...PRECISION. There is no shame to be cast on the man who tries; and while the afore mentioned 'big boys' take on each new project with a war chest large enough to invade a small country - we find in 'The Forsaken Ruins' an approach that cannot be mastered at the command of daddy warbucks, but instead one that comes from the heart. From the soul. While, as is the nature of 'indie' games, the occasional bug may be found, ...
