About This Game

Features

  • Fully voice-acted and starring Lachlan Watson (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina)
  • Meaningful choices: Make difficult decisions to navigate Fang’s life and friendships
  • Stunning hand-drawn art and character animations—feels like a playable cartoon
  • Written using the storytelling engine that powers Heaven's Vault, Sorcery! and 80 Days
  • Goodbye Volcano High: a hybrid cinematic narrative/rhythm game/coming of age/interactive movie visual novel experience

The world’s about to explode. Just in time for senior year.

Just Fang’s luck: they finally figure out what they want out of life, and now the world’s about to explode.

Ok. So the world’s ending—do you tell your crush your feelings? Fix your messed-up family dynamic? Write the best song ever ever ever?? Try to do it all?

Goodbye Volcano High is a story-driven, choice-based cinematic adventure game about personal growth, acceptance, and the power of community. What will you do at the end of an era?

Decide Who To Be

Your choices shape who Fang becomes, and determine your gameplay experience. Discover what the future holds as you play through your final year at Volcano High. No pressure...

Chosen Family Values

Get close with friends, family, acquaintances, frenemies, crushes (crushes!?!). Figure out how you’re gonna be there for your loved ones when it matters most—it is the literal end of the world, after all. Nurturing relationships builds affinity and changes the outcome of your gameplay.

Don’t Let the Apocalypse Get You Down

Put all the shit that’s hard to say into your music with an interactive rhythm and lyrics system. Choose what you want to say in your lyrics and then perform those original tracks throughout the story.

Dino Minigames & Prehistoric Interactions

Immerse yourself in Fang's day-to-day through interactions and conversations. In-game dinosaur-themed social media and interactive one-offs make you a part of Fang's life.

FULL REVIEW WILL BE LINKED RIGHT HERE AS STEAM HAS A CHARACTER LIMIT: THIS STEAM REVIEW IS ONLY A SMALL PIECE OF WHAT I WROTE. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ln6JUqNk1QbvmQTl4OHHo9LH1ugSW9Jf0pfcoqwSf7w/edit?usp=sharing Great, here comes a long review from me I should have done years ago.... As much as I made fun of GBVH when it was shown off at the first PlayStation 5 reveal , I fell in love with the idea 2 years later when they revealed more about the game and the world ending scenario and promised lore that was supposed to be very deep and interesting in many regards. also giving players multiple choices that would lead to multiple endings so naturally of course you would strive to try to get the best ending and no matter what you do it all leads to the same ending. As much as I want to try to recommend this game especially for what it tries to convey it's just not worth the money or worth your time as you can find an entire playthrough on YouTube and not miss a single bit o...

I really wanted to like this game. I mean, it's queer dinosaurs in a rock band trying to achieve their dreams before the meteor kills them all. Flat characters, a plot that lacks focus and has very unusual pacing (spoiler alert: the meteor is not actually as relevant as the description may have you believe), the narrative is very linear despite being presented with illusion of choice. With the fact that the dinosaurs being LGBT is marketed as a primary selling point, I was expecting their experiences to at least be integral to the game's narrative. The rep is actually quite superficial, as is everything else with this game sadly. So much potential, I'm genuinely very sad that it failed to live up to it.

mild spoilers oh dang this one sucks to write. a game with beautiful art direction, fantastic voice cast, hot dinos, and shades of my favorite game of all time, Night in the Woods? i hate to echo the top review on Steam, but really, just play Night in the Woods, again even. there may not be a romance subplot there (who care, this one doesn't go anywhere cos it's in the part of the plot where Fang suddenly needs to be a huge jackass for the characters to still have friction) but at least Bea's blue collar woes seem justified over Trish's non-commital shtick.

This will be my longest review. So, I wanted to play this game since the annoucement, but never had the chance to buy it, but I am glad that I didn't play it earlier. This year I am finishing High School and I am not sure of what I want to do in my future, neither have plans for it. If I played this earlier, it wouldn't hit me as hard as it. I play music for 5 years now, I always thought on make a life out of it (Like Fang), but I scared of what might happen and I think it won't ever pass, this feeling of being scared. I always had the feeling of not being "normal", a round my family and some of my friends. I see a lot of me on fang, the dreams, the D&D, the queer and so go on... I am writting this review for me as a thank's the devs. In my opinion? This game is great and I love it, every single moment of it. I can count in one hand how many games marked me as much as this one did. Please, give it a chance.

What made me play this game was a negative review that said to just play Night in the Woods because this game was clearly trying to be something like it and immediately bought it, thinking if it captured even a bit of what Night in the Woods had then it was gonna be a good experience. In a weird way I was happy to see that that negative review was right, because it captures that same kind of lost, kind of stumbling friendship dynamics that Night in the Woods, and while the story is similar in some ways it still easily stands on its own. A lot of care clearly went into visually designing and writing for the game, and while the main focus was the narrative the game was telling, the music mini-game was challenging and engaging, at least for someone who doesn't play a lot of rhythm games, and I found myself checking the relationship wheel frequently to see if I was making good progress on with the three (Naomi, Trish, and Naser) I wanted most in Fang's inner circle. All in all it was a ...
