Disclaimer: My scores/reviews are almost always based on having bought the game at close to the "lowest historical price" on steam at time of purchase. Quick score: 5/5 Notes: Great little metroidvania. The swinging mechanic takes a while to get used to because the way momentum works is very different from how most other games with grapples work, you will get used to it eventually though and it gets a lot more smooth once you get a couple upgrades. The only downside I would say to the game is that it is short, my first playthrough was 1 hour and 18 minutes. I got it on sale for 4$ and I don't regret my purchase at all, was an enjoyable hour, and there is some replayability with the achievements if you want more of a challenge. Also worth noting I played on KB+M, I generally use a controller on games but a grappling mechanic generally lends itself to a mouse so I would suggest the same to you.

A small, lovable game that works quite well in gameplay. Some things seem unusual, but with a little practice, you can get in quickly. It is a simple and enjoyable game. Who loves grappling hook in other games should also try this game. I felt that it was a bit short, I would have appreciated having one or two additional areas.

Disclaimer, I've only played for 14 minutes, although 14 minutes is probably enough The physics of this game are just awful. You can't extend or retract your grappling vine at all. You can barely swing manually once you're grappled to something so if you mess up once you're going to have to restart from your last checkpoint. Every single swing you do relies 100% on the momentum you can get from falling, and it seems that holding a directional key while swinging in that same direction actually cancels out your momentum which is unintuitive. You know how people playing Mario Kart tilt their whole bodies when they make a turn in-game? Imagine if doing that undid your turn. Now imagine that you're not tilting your IRL body, you're pushing the D key on your keyboard because you're trying to move to the right. Trying to move makes you not move 4/10 •Art style is fine •Didn't play long enough to get anything but the beginning of the story •Playing the game is unpleasant

A short and sweet game! Beautiful art and fun gameplay, though the gamepad controls do get a bit strenuous (though that is just a fault on my part since I'm pretty sure I could have been playing with a mouse and keyboard this entire time). Definitely worth the money <3

Quick Description: -A cute little flower saves the day in a grappling hook adventure! A few abrupt difficulty spikes aside, this is a fun and creative mini metroidvania that is well worth the asking price for fans of the genre. What's Good: -Checks most of the boxes for what is expected from a metroidvania. The entire world is interconnected, there are several unlockable upgrades that allow you to explore once unreachable areas, and there are fun collectibles to be found. -Really adorable art design and color scheme. Each biome has it's own theme and color, along w/ new enemies and environmental hazards. -The soundtrack fits well with the theme of the game. It's very soothing, uplifting, and helps push you forward on your adventure. -The grappling hook is the main mechanic, and although not perfect, is really rewarding as you figure out how to use momentum to help you reach hard to reach areas. -Although the story is limited, it is really sweet and heart warming. -Cheap as bal...

Lorera is a very small games, don't expect to play it for countless hours (unless you want to speedrun it (wich is super fun)). I beat the game in about a little more than an hour and a half. But the game is great at what it does, it's just a small platformer with a little hook mechanic. - Pixel art is really cool (although I don't like the sprite of the main character), I love the color palet used. - Music is nice and relaxing. - Gameplay is pretty nice, it does feel kinda akward at first but it's very fun to mess around with the abilities you're given. This isn't the best game ever but it's a short and solid platformer.

I really like these kind of games. The game is very grappling hook based, which i like. But it is heavily relies on momentum. I'm using a Xbox one controller to play and can't get pass one of the first stages. This is purely based on the fact that i can't gather enough swing momentum. I looked at a letplay of the game and it seems like the game is suited more for mouse and keyboard. Or maybe the game is designed this way - to be hard. Either way it feels unfair and a bit frustrating. I barely started the game and can't progress. Hope the devs provide some clarification.

This was a fun little game with some pretty solid pixel art (especially the 4 statues!) and nice music that was reminiscent of Minecraft's relaxing tunes. I enjoyed the main mechanic and the way it evolved, but I did find it difficult to master so the later areas of the game were pretty troublesome. I really hope some speedrunners pick this one up as I can imagine it having pretty ridiculous speed strats.

A tightly-constructed platformer worth the time of any fan of grappling hooks or slick movement tech in general. One of those games that's just a joy to move through. I recommend playing with mouse/keyboard for fast precise aim, as it quickly got beyond what I was comfortable with on gamepad, even though the controls there are well-considered. One complaint worth noting: as much as I like flick-screen platformers, it's a problem that there are a handful of times where the player is expected to continue a sequence of swings across a screen boundary.
