I played this game for about an hour and came to the following conclusion - This game is kind of fun for about 30 minutes. I found a decent amount of bugs during this first hour (including once where I could fish on land) and completed *almost* all the available quests, but I will touch on the quests later. I also found a few instances of typos or grammatically incorrect sentences.
Gameplay notes

WASD should be used or at least toggleable as the movement keys
There is no collision between characters
No feedback when you catch a fish (there should at least be an audio que). For a major part of the game, fishing is not very interactive - you press a key and then walk away
When moving through the world, it is often hard to tell if your boat is even moving because the whole screen is one color, or the scenery is all the same
Mark fishy guy and the archepelago on the map
The character needs movement anim...

For $0.59 (on sale when purchased) you could do worse. The first release of this game is very rough and some tweaks need to be made to the gameplay. This review is for the initial version 1 release. The main gameplay loop is you fish and eat the fish you catch as needed to avoid hunger death, then you return to the harbor and sell the fish. There are different types of fish you can catch however they don't matter because there is no inventory and the only thing that changes is the weight the fish provides. The way the economy works is when you catch a fish its weight value is added to your total and the maximum weight you can carry is tied to the ship you own. When you sell the fish at the harbor you get a set price * the total weight of fish you caught. This means catching rare fish isn't as important in the current build. There are a few side quests you can do like a Scarface inspired drug delivery to a guy in the lower portion of the game world for a free 70k. There are random mon...

It's a small game and the fishing mechanic is really simple, but I had fun playing it. I hope for more updates soon.

This is simply the greatest game of all time. Such rich gameplay coupled with such beautiful environmental story telling, with characters as deep and human as real world individuals. I truly cannot overstate just how much I love this game. Such a beautiful dance of fishing and classic... Truly spectacular

Not even going to lie, I really like this game, despite it being really light on content (even though it came out not that long ago) I love the art style & the gameplay - I can't wait to see where this goes in the future!

Fisherman Classic is a 2D very retro pixel 8-bit top down survival game where you fish for a living, eat fish, sell fish, buy boats... well, it's got more depth and interest than a 2D retro pixel platformer, but the depth of this game is nothing compared to far better retro casual games like Stardew Valley. The characters in this game aren't even animated! The technical execution is also extremely poor, even compared to other pixel games like Stardew Valley. The game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... t...

Man I love Fishing, sadly this game hardly qualifies as such. Fisherman Classic is a short retro inspired fishing game in the same vein as something like The Blue Marlin back on the NES. Sadly it has less content than the 30 year old aforementioned game. To put it simply this game is unfinished, the central mechanic is basically non-existent and frequent glitches plagued my playthrough (e.g. the previous fish caught staying on screen and getting stuck perpetually near bridges). I completed every NPC given "quest" I could find in the game (A whopping 5 tasks, if there are more I do not care to search for them) this entailed: delivering white powder from one end of the map to the other, catching the staggering 10 fish available in the game, catching a single Giant Squid for a pirate and finally giving one of two Santa Claus on the map 1 million dollars . A number of small things could drastically improve this games playability, such as: - Having an actual involved fishing mechanic, eve...
