About This Game

Inconsistencies is an immersive psychological-horror experience played from the ego perspective. You play as the young private investigator Sally Harrison as she explores an old lodge to uncover the mysterious, inter generational double suicide of the Rethan family. You collect interesting clues, combine objects and solve complex puzzles. An exciting and unique story that will change based on your decisions awaits!

The game concentrates on exploring the environment and gathering information, which slowly builds up the atmosphere. The story is told through subtle environmental details and surreal insights of the gathered information. The decisions you make are all final and will significantly influence the story, which will create multiple storylines and endings. Death is also a major aspect of the game. Through a lot of hidden objects and different endings a high replay value is achieved.

Environment

You are investigating the family home of the Rethans, an old lodge near a lake, far away from civilisation. It's an eerie house that holds many secrets and dangers. You wander through dark corridors and investigate strange rooms while your head fills with the dark memories and experiences of the former inhabitants.

Story

The double suicide of Arthur and Marilyn Rethan made the rounds in all the newspapers a few decades ago, but now their son James and his wife were also found dead. It appears that they too committed suicide. The inter generational double suicides, from now on known as Rethan cases, are one of the most mysterious and unexplained cases in the career of the young private investigator Sally Harrison, who has now been assigned to solve the cases. As a player, you will uncover parts of the dark past and each new clue will scare and frighten you. It's up to you to find out the truth. But will you run away or will you try everything to uncover what happened?

Game mechanics

In Inconsistencies you are absolutely on your own. With no weapons to help you, you have to fight the strange incidents with your mind alone. By solving complex puzzles and finding clues, you will gain more and more information about what really happened in the house. Your decisions to deal with certain situations also have a major impact on the game. It is quite possible that you will miss many of the decisive clues if you don't pay attention to the small details.

Your psyche becomes weaker and weaker as you surrender to your fears. You have to face the dangers of the past or run the risk of going insane forever. Only if your mind remains as healthy as possible, you can decipher the secrets of the house and solve the Rethan case.

Scary, great atmosphere good sound design. I like it a lot. Puzzles can be a bit vague, cause you need to trigger some events before some clues or progress is possible. Takes some time to figure it out, But there is a fear of dying as that resets your progress :) but a nice experience, Get it now! :)

The game is really immersive and scary. Puzzles are interesting sometimes hard, but most of them are optional to receive better endings and a more detailed view of the story. In total it takes around 30-60 minutes to complete one playthrough, but the game offers multiple endings and thus definetly increases the replayability! In total 4 Euro is a fine price and it is an impressive game for a solo developer!

Took some time to figure out what I am to do. And tracking down the random spawn items can be annoying, but it is a fun spooky little game! Should only take 45 minutes to beat so there is no saving your progress, you fail you restart from the begening. Check discussions for walkthrough if your having problems.

How do I save my game? Great game if only I had saved and don't have to start all over after playing for 4 hours last night.

Overall its a good game, however after playing it 6 times, on 2 occasions it completely glitched out and didnt let me move or look around, however would still move the mouse cursor on the menu screen. This wasted about an hour worth of gaming as I had to restart all progress. There are practically no clues or hints, which makes some tasks almost impossible, however that isnt a problem as much as the gameplay problem listed above. DEVS PLEASE FIX THANKYOU

I only played for about 15 minutes before I got stuck. No, not stuck as in the puzzles were confusing, but stuck as in I couldn't put down the note I had been reading and the entire screen was blocked and unviewable. Not sure if I'll try again. It looks like it could have been a good game if it worked.

In horror games, walking around like a sacrificial sheep makes me very nervous. I wish I had a gun :d

Very confusing but good overall. Hard to find answers or codes. It glitches and sometimes can’t find keys. I’m furious because I got to the end, and it glitches out and I couldn’t move around anymore just zoom in n out. I gave up and will never play again. I wasted hours and hours just for it to glitch at the end right about when I’m gonna pass it.

Not good at all. This is another indie horror game made with the Unity engine. And what typically comes with a poorly optimized Unity engine you will find here such as jittery camera movement as the player moves and frame rate issues. Try venturing outside the house in this game and watch the frame rate take a dive down into the 30s. The only graphic settings are low, medium, and high, which seem to do absolutely nothing and you cannot change these in game. You must exit the game to do so. And when you exit the game, you will quickly see that the game doesn't save. Like it doesn't save at all, which means you must play the entire game in one playthrough. There is also no inventory, no direction what to do, no enemies to escape from, invisible walls outside the house, player movement is too fast, and the game is really short. I cannot recommend this game at all.
