Can of Wormholes

This is the new standard for puzzle games, it ticks every mark: covert tricks based upon simple mechanics which are taught progressively with succint level design, eerie ambiance, the world counts as a level and an impeccable hint system. For someone who thoroughly enjoyed Stephen's Sausage Roll and thought its existence was one in a million, now I can assure it was two in a million.

One of the best puzzle experiences of all tiem

Stephen's Sausage Roll did so much damage... This is a great successor, with a great deal of expanding mechanics that keep surprising you even into the late game. Also, the hints are amazing, but I wish there was a bit more of a barrier to using them, as sometimes I felt like I checked them too soon, but later I would overcorrect and take too long to check the hint in levels with a very obscure mechanic.

I'm 53% through the game, and I think I'm finally ready to give up. Can of Wormholes is just too difficult for me, and there's no shame in admitting that I'll never finish it. And that's after I already saw a playthrough of the game some time after release. However, for the time I've spent on it, I must say that I enjoyed the game quite a bit. It's a sokoban puzzle game, meaning that you're on a grid, and you move and push things to solve puzzles. That's the basic premise. But soon enough, Can of Wormholes shows you the intricacies of its systems, teaching you new mechanics without ever telling you anything more than the buttons for move, and undo. I can't stress enough what a great job Can of Wormholes does at teaching the player without ever (noticeably) holding their hand. You never get explained just how things will go, you just have to learn by doing. This is great for making you feel smart, but unfortunately, it does also have its drawbacks.
