EDIT: Having replayed it. I significantly changed my mind. This game is great! It's a bit long for and needs to be pushed though at times... I think it could have been shorter, it's more of a time investment than id like. However, the story is great and has engraved a lovely experience in my memory. Play DDLC before! After playing the game, I still find myself disappointed. Honestly, the game is mislabeled, it’s not really psychological horror, it’s more of an experimental experience. Yes, it gets compared to Doki Doki, and while the foundation is similar, at least DDLC hits harder, faster, and feels more concrete. This one drags into an endless slice of life. I even got to the point, after 8 hours of slice of life, where I asked ChatGPT (without spoilers) if it would ever get scary and if it deserved the tag, and it lied to me. Just like all of you other players leaving reviews. For the record, a single scene with blood does not qualify as horror. Still, I’m leaving a positive rating because I just can’t bring myself to give it a negative one and because I will love Miyuki FOREVER. According to the the Director's messages, the main artist commented on the prototype "Looks like you are trying to end galgames.", and I think they did it. Steam store describes it as "is the visual novel medium in its purest form", which is accurate, cause this work, in a pure form, plays on the very form of galgames/VNs, satisfying the very definition of "meta" as the pioneer of meta galgames. I cannot comment further without spoilers, and there are already enough comments for such a classic anyways, so here are some tips: 1. I don't think this is a good first galgame/VN for someone who has never experienced any. Experience with a few other well made galgames or at least VNs will be needed for the most understanding and impact. 2. I suggest you allocate a few hours on *your birthday* for this game. 3. If you like dokidoki literature club, you will like this game as well. The plot is radical in a good way.
