The Chess Variants Club

There was a breaking game bug in one of the puzzles but they were quick to fix it. Keep it up devs :) One small suggestion: Allow people to change the puzzle pieces appearance (not only the boards). I personally find the current pieces aesthetically annoying and distracting. Would love to be able to change it.

I like this but I am not the best player. I'd love for this game to be educational to my level of playing. When there is a draw or I lose I'd like the computer to tell me maybe why - especially because playing on different styles of boards is new to me. I am playing as Apprentice (the lowest option - I think?) so I would like to see more tutorial style parts or tips. Would be fun to zoom around the board at the end - if desired - or a recap of moves in text. The jazz music is lovely and the simple design is nice. Maybe its included and I haven't explored but I would like to be able to choose different levels of contrast or different piece colours. An interesting aspect would be public lobbies for sure!

most chess apps on steam are a rip off this is not its elegant and kinda cool i like it for the price 10/10 im gm ben finegold and you are not

since its in early access,has some bugs to fix. and its engine should be improved.but at least i can say that this game is promising.

The game has the right art direction and is very well balanced in terms of details and graphic design: it is sophisticated enough to be realistic and elegant, but without going beyond the point that would unravel the chess experience. It's a pleasant environment to play chess and a great way to get to know and play with its variations. Recommended.

A wonderful game! Lots of chess board size options were unknown by me and it was very fun to play in this different sizes of board. Elegant design allied to great new ideas. I strongly recommend, congrats to the developers!

This game is perfect, you should definitely buy it. There are lots of game modes and fun puzzles. Sometimes AI is really hard, it's a good thing. But I don't like the look of chess pieces. for example bishop and pawn look very alike.But this is not a negative feature for now, I hope different chess pieces will come to the game. Nice job

Incomplete product and the team announced they would no longer provide updates to fulfill their promises in order to work on their other games. Don't reward this kind of behavior from developers.

It's Chess. I have no witty title nor jokes. it's chess. The Chess Variants Club tells you all you need to know about it in its title. It has every variant of Chess you can think of, most of which I had no idea even existed. This game is also a good reminder of just how bad I suck at chess; even on the easiest difficulty I generally get my ass handed to me from three different directions. The game does give you the opportunity to practice thinking ahead with its challenges - a separate mode in which the pieces are already set up so that if you do it right, you will win within the allotted limit of moves. I found that helpful, and a lot less frustrating than playing through a game only to lose because I a made a bad move ten moves prior that I totally forgot about and thus couldn't learn from.
