About This Game

Ride your music.
Audiosurf is a music-adapting puzzle racer where you use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose. You earn points for clustering together blocks of the same color on the highway, and compete with others on the internet for the high score on your favorite songs.
Audiosurf on Steam includes The Orange Box soundtrack, integrated with the game to enable "Still Alive" surfing and more. In addition, Audiosurf is one of the first titles to leverage Steamworks, offering full support for the Steam Achievements that appear on Steam Community profile pages.
  • Play with any music from your own collection--the game supports MP3s, iTunes M4As, WMAs, CDs and OGGs
  • Valve's The Orange Box Original Soundtrack is included.
  • Online scoreboards for each song you play.
  • Choose your strategy from 14 available characters.
  • Track your progress as Steam Achievements.

When I first stumbled upon Audiosurf, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Rhythm games usually follow a predictable formula: press buttons in time with notes, rack up combos, repeat. But Audiosurf flips the script by letting your own music library build the game. Drop in anything - an indie folk ballad, a blistering metal track, even that guilty-pleasure pop song you’d never admit to - and suddenly you’re riding a rollercoaster of color and speed mapped to its rhythm. The magic of Audiosurf lies in how it transforms sound into motion. Each song becomes a unique track that dips, twists and accelerates with the energy of the music. A chill, lo-fi beat produces a lazy cruise, while a drum-heavy banger turns the road into a chaotic, neon raceway. It’s almost hypnotic, sometimes I’d forget I was “playing a game” and just lose myself in the ride. Gameplay itself is simple but deceptively addictive: steer your little ship along the track, collect clusters of blocks and aim for h...

Used to enjoy this game a lot, but it's seemingly broken now, unable to open on Windows 11. Will update this review if I can ever find a fix, but until then don't buy this if you have the latest Windows OS.

Before Beat Saber, there was Audiosurf. This tron-like rhythm game stole countless hours of my time as I got lost in the music and the flow of its neon tracks. It is one of those rare games that can feel completely Zen when you just want to relax, yet it can also turn into a brutal challenge if you are chasing high scores. The way it transforms your own music library into a playable experience is what makes it timeless. Every song becomes a new track, a new challenge, and a new way to experience music. For me, Audiosurf will always be one of those special games that blends art, rhythm, and gameplay perfectly.

If you enjoy music and games like Amplitude and Frequency, this is a game you should definitely try. Excellent rhythm-based gameplay and the ability to play with any mp3 you'd like.
