About the Game
The city burns and bleeds as it suffers the madness of King Louis XVI and his violent legions of automatons. Aegis, a mechanical masterpiece created by the engineer Vaucanson to be the queen's bodyguard, must save the French Revolution in this challenging action-RPG.CHALLENGING COMBAT BETWEEN AUTOMATONS
Up against the king's mechanical soldiers, deadly accuracy will be needed. String together dodges, parries, jumps and devastating attacks to fight your way through Paris. Every fight will test your nerve and requires excellent discipline, while the huge relentless machine bosses demand patience and skill.
AEGIS: A CHARACTER WITH EXTRAORDINARY SKILLS
Define your own style and upgrade your abilities as you progress through the game. You can play as a ruthless warrior, a hard-hitting bodyguard, a deadly dancer or a virtuoso of the elemental arts. Take advantage of a wide variety of weapons and skills to approach each fight in your own unique way.
REVOLUTIONARY PARIS IS YOUR PLAYGROUND
Using carriages, grapples, secret passages, a detailed map, and other methods and tools you find along the way, explore a city experiencing its darkest days. Your grappling hook adds a new dimension to exploration and Paris's verticality. Combined with your dash ability, it will provide access to all the city's secrets across multiple levels you can explore over and over again.
CHANGE THE COURSE OF HISTORY
You are one of the main characters of an alternative history where Paris is being choked by a tyrant king. Allies and enemies with unclear motives will cross your path, such as Marie-Antoinette, Lafayette and Robespierre. It's up to you to cut a path through all the plotting and put an end to one man's madness so that the French Revolution succeeds.

User Reviews
There's this thing some developers do, where they decide to have French characters utter like one or two words in French in the middle of a sentence. Yeah, that's my leadoff. This is a rambling shamble of a review. Now, I may know a language or four. I can tell you that, in the midst of a conversation, if I can't find the word I'm looking for in the langauge I'm speaking, I'll flail my way around for awhile and only after I've given up would I use another language's word. It goes something like, "Euh, uhh... 'ow you say... ananas?" If I know what the word is, in the language I'm using, I use that word! I mean, that's what the word is for! Randomly peppering your speech with words from other languages is pretentious to the nth degree or possibly the laziest way to suggest foreignness by writing, but okay, let's say that was the intent. If your voice actor is going to use the French word, say it like it's an actual French word. Or, if you're not, okay, say it like an English wo...
TLDR: This game could have been great, but it isn't. It's fucking retarded. They did everything right, except for combat mechanics and traversal. Which is why most people play ARPGs. It has a bit of metroidvania, some build variety for replayability, NG+, a decent story, decent graphics, ok implementation of the Souls formula... but then the enemy AI is just absolutely laughable. They resort to EVERY CHEAP TRICK in the book to make the game "hard". But it's not hard. It's actually quite easy, just frustrating. Why? Because every enemy has infinite poise and can interrupt your attacks DURING the attack at any time. Because oftentimes they just get in a loop of doing something that can't be dodged, or parried or blocked and you just have to tank it (and it hurts). Sometimes the enemies (including major bosses, and btw I'm looking at you Selemite) just keep spamming the same annoying move forever, and you can only have any strategy to deal with it with a very particular loadou...
Steelrising is a pretty good alternative history Souls like game, now some people have compared this game to lies of p and frankly it's like comparing apples to oranges while both this game and lies of p share some DNA it's only surface level and both are vastly different games with different stories, enemy designs and so much more, but anyway let's get into the story. In Paris 1773 the French Revolution has been suppressed by the cruel and ruthless Louis XVI nicknamed the clockwork tyrant has released a lethal Army of automatons whose strength outshining the normal human resistance, all seems lost until Aegis a former dancing automaton turned bodyguard for Louis's wife Marie Antoinette is send out by the queen herself to figure out what has happened to her son who died under mysterious circumstances and to stop the clockwork tyrant. Aegis now must fight the bloody mechanical army and uncover the truth while also stopping the mad clockwork tyrant, but she isn't alone with the help of...
the graphics arnt the best and it froze on me for no reason and now it doesnt even want to load
Rating: 8/10 Platinum: Yes Would I play again? Likely Likes: The best part of this game for me is the souls like combat. I really enjoyed it, there were some interesting boss designs, a fun assortment of weapon choices, and I just felt an overall satisfaction while exploring. Dislikes: This game really falls short on its story telling, with emphasis on the telling and not enough showing. Didn’t care about any of the characters, it was tedious speaking to any of them, and the lore felt extremely flat due to the way it was presented, which is a shame because if done right it could have been fairly entertaining. Wouldn’t recommend playing this for the story alone.
I enjoyed this game. Fun to play. Creative story and visuals. I would recommend it.
A combat heavy game let down by its mediocre combat and bland exploration. You have smaller arcs, smaller range, slower attacks, less stagger and more recovery time on your attacks, charge attacks, blocking, etc. The game feels bad fighting 1v1, but the game often likes to throw multiple enemies at you, ranged and melee.
Pros: Aegis is like a Stepford Queen's handmaiden: - She doesn't yell at anyone for being male. - She doesn't constantly complain about being oppressed. - She isn't sexual anything or anything-goes sexual. - She isn't a misandrist. - She isn't morbidly obese. - She likely has one of the most attractive female faces made in the west in the last 4 years. - The only thing intersectional about her are her machine parts. Other Pros: - The game's French environment is pretty awesome. - This is a good starting souls-like for beginners with challenging but not so punishing fights. - There's a lot to explore and secret areas to find which was fun quite until... see below. - The historical context is a blast. - The voice acting and dialogue is better than most AAA games. Cons: - Souls-like veterans would likely classify it as a challenging action adventure more than a souls-like. - An awkward potion/grenade/heals selection wheel that requires that you scroll through up to three steps to fi...
I couldn't open the bastille' sarcophagos cause i couldn't go back to the last save point after not finding one echo and that really, really pissed me off! If u want your game to have metrovania-like systems and/or side quests that make u go back to previous areas, AT LEAST HAVE THE DECENCY of allowing us to tp between save points 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 This was a problem throughout the whole game, but the bastille thing really tipped me over the edge and i just rushed to the end, f* this s*! The worst part is that, not counting this problem, i was liking the game, but this really pissed me off so much that i cant give a tumbs up to this game --' Another problem too is that this game is TOO F* EASY! It starts GREAT, but then u get to a point that u can one shot even big enemies and bosses die in less than 10 attacks, like WTF? And i say this as someone that didn't even use the bombs, i only used charged attacks + the shield skill. Why devs never get balacing right? Seriously, i...
