Listen, the game is really fun. But, after every update, my save file gets deleted. I've grown sick and tired of that issue happening every single update that the game recieves.

User Reviews
Are the people who implement game achievements aware of what they have done? Do they care? Astral Ascent is a richly-featured and well-implemented action roguelite game with clever mechanics packed into every available bit of space. Every basic mechanic has several layers of passive abilities that can affect it, and the large pool of potential passive effects encourages the player to roll with what they receive and figure out new synergies rather than try to shoehorn the same build into every run. Astral Ascent's available achievements range from challenges which must be completed once, to collect-a-thons which must be accomplished over the course of many attempts. One such achievement, requiring the player to collect some hundred-odd colors with which characters' appearances may be customized, is listed at a 5.8% player completion rate at the time of this writing. Third-party websites estimate Astral Ascent's sales at somewhere north of 200 million; third parties also estimate that...
is good
One of my favorite and most responsive games. They put work into the visuals and the audio carries its weight in a way that also ties the whole thing together with the speed and pacing. Fun characters and weapons, great late game challenges. GREAT late game challenges. The kind that keep you coming back weeks or months or years later. Really cool game. love the team that made it, wish them the best. Look forward to purchasing the steam deck just to play this game more in a different way.
This game is a buggy mess with extremely frustrating controller support for co-op. It's just random. You don't know when the second controller can properly join. Sometimes P2 won't join then both controllers end up playing P1. Sometimes Controller 1 plays P2, and Controller 2 plays both P1 AND P2. There's no known cure to guarantee a successful pair. Every single session takes 5+ blind attempts. And you better pray your controllers don't get disconnected cuz there is absolutely no way you can reconnect controllers within a run. As of version 2.2.3, I haven't found any working solution to make any of this easier. If anyone has a workaround, please enlighten me. Maybe I'll come back to this game some day when the controller support is properly done like most decent co-op games.
My favourite roguelike ever <3 <3
An absolutely stunning roguelike! At first the combat felt oddly "light" and fluffy without any real impact, but the gameplay grew on me VERY quickly. This game has some absolutely incredible builds, a surprisingly well-crafted story with fairly intricate characters, some of the best pixel art work I have ever seen, and an absolutely incredible sense of variety. Truly incredible, and SO much fun! Each character has unique attack patterns, and the addition of four weapons per character with their own movesets/strengths makes for an immensely entertaining play, as you effectively have 16 characters to choose from (20 if you buy the VERY good Yamat DLC). More and more of the story gets revealed as you play, die, and win, as well as more and more unique mechanics. I'm 18 hours in and just got my first true ending, which unlocks quite a bit of endgame content to add to its already unusually impressive roguelike replay value. Such a stunning game, and I am so happy with my purchase!
Great rouge-like, up there with the best. Probably falls a little short in the replay-ability department compared to others, but still a good time with fun combat, great movement and cool combos.
Great roguelike game. This one has a very unique style and gameplay to it. Definitely worth a purchase! You can also play local coop so you could use Steam play or Parsec to play it with a friend!
Really one of the best coop games ive played. Im even considering to buy the DLC to support the devs as i could see the efforts and fruit of labor
