Description

Under Lock is a survival horror game that will immerse you into the grim ambience of damnation. The players can take one of the two opposing roles: monster or survivor. The game is designed for 5 players. One of the players takes the role of the monster, whose goal is to mercilessly murder all the survivors.
The other 4 players, in an attempt to survive, have to search for keys, which will eventually unlock an exit from the building.

Since the keys and other items appear in random locations, each round on the same level will be unique what will keep you entertained for many hours.

Moreover, the diversity of gameplay is achieved not only with random placement of items on the map, but also by completely different monsters, each of which has a unique hunting style and a separate set of skills.

Play as a survivor

As a survivor, your goal is to look for keys, that lead to the desired salvation. But one must remember, that not all keys lead to freedom. Some of the keys give access to other useful items. It is important to work as a team to achieve maximal efficiency against the monster, but do not forget the one main rule. The most important thing is to survive.

Play as a monster

Your goal is to exterminate all other players, but this cannot be done at the beginning. Scare the survivors first to become gain power which will unlock new abilities and eventually possibility to devour a victims.
Currently two different monsters is available:

Flatface is unable to move while someone looking at him, but it have set of abilities which allows him to disorient nearby survivors and perform unexpected attacks.

Wheeper is unable to see survivors directly, however its set of abilities helps him to detect, track and hunt down survivors which are not careful enough.

Shady is invisible until he gains enough strength, but still casts a shadow, and until then he is a harmless observer.

VR support

For people who are ready to truly challenge their mettle, Under Lock is available in VR. Now, when the boundaries of virtual reality are not clear, the monster is way scarier than you could imagine, it will follow your steps, startling you with every rustle. The monster is closer than it seems. It is almost here.
Survivors in Under Lock can play in VR on the same server with non-VR players.

The game is in early access - so yes expect bugs and issues. I have only played for a short time but I can tell this game has the potential to compete with other games similar to it (I think of dead by daylight while I play) It is supposed to be a 4v1 experience. As of typing this, there are 2 killers available and 4 present survivors. The goal is to find keys spread across the map (I assume placed through RNG) and escape. Even with some of the issues the game has, I personally have enjoyed it so far! I am excited for what's in store for the game in the future
Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2. VR REVIEW ONLY.
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/r2GulxQ92oQ I'll have to admit, I don't think this is currently a good game in VR. The controls are clunky (inventory system is bad & opening a door is much harder than it should be), the game is buggy, the optimization isn't good enough, and the gameplay is too simple. However, despite all those negatives, I have to admit that this game did give me several scares. Keep in mind, I was unable to test online multiplayer because this game lacks a playerbase. That's not good for a MP focused game. The good news is that this game does have a single player mode and it's creepy as hell to play it. The visuals are good, the music is terrifying, and the atmosphere is intense. The gameplay is simple: keep looking for keys or passcodes that match the door until you exit. You can choose one of 4 survivors, one of 2 monsters, and one of 4 maps. This game is running on the Unit...

This game has incredible potential underneath its bugs and connection issues. If you were looking for Phasmophobia to have PvP modes, then this is your ticket. The maps and soundtracks feel very good, as in scary good, and the options we have now are reminiscent of Dead by Daylight's introductory methods. In its current state, the game is almost unplayable on VR, especially with poor connection. However, the creator put out an update as large as the original game files within the first 24 hours of Early Access being open on Steam. So long as the developer treats this game as a labour of love, and continues to work on ironing out its issues, this game easily has a chance at winning steam awards in 2021 or 2022. For now, I will give this a positive review while I place my trust in the developers to keep working on the game, and bring it to a completely playable state. I will give this game another review down the line, perhaps a year from now, which is more complete. For now, this is d...

Bought this game when it first came out. To this day, I've seen no servers on the list and haven't played it online, once. I have 18 minutes gameplay, because of me waiting around for a server. Dead game, probably fun with mates in your own server.

First I was very intrigued by the premise of this game. Yes it's another asymetric pvp horror multiplayer game but it has VR support and first it seems you could play it fully in VR...but I was wrong. The first time I played was directly at release and it was a buggy mess, glitching through doors just by putting your head in, ect. But the biggest bummer... you can't play as the monster in VR. With all that I refunded the game. The game got updated and I gave it another shot, maybe it's fixed now. No more glitching through doors, yay. BUT if you play in VR you can screw you over in an instant when you try a key on the wrong long. The key gets stuck anyway with no way to get it back and no chance of winning at all. NO GO. And again... ...you still can't play as the monster in VR...resulting, you guessed it, in another refund. So what's the difference between other asymetric pvp games? None... beeing able to play as the monster in VR would make this game stand out but...well. I might ...

Great game however I can't recommend it for the following reasons: 1. The game is no longer in development. 2. The player base and even the Discord for this game is completely dead. This game had a lot of potential. RIP.

Fantastic concept and fresh start for this 1v4 coop escape style horror games, at this price so much fun can be had. This game really only has the basics right now, but I am on the edge of my seat waiting for more updates.

Edited review - I had this game set to not recommended, dev didn't seem dedicated to it IMO. However one of my(and others) biggest complaint did get addressed, only one of each key. The dev does seem to be working on the game still and it's a fun concept, its based on Damned the Asymmetrical horror game that pioneered this entire genre (Dead by Daylight came along a little later). I've already lost interest in the game my self, but if you wanna give a try I say go for it. You will know in an hour or two if you like it. Player base is currently very low so I recommend you only get this is you have friends to play with....Although they did add a single player mode I see.
