Good game with historical details... Some parts may be shorter (e.g. the prison). Give a chance.

About This Game
In June 1848, an uprising that started in the suburbs of Paris was harshly suppressed by the army, and from among the rebels seven workers were arrested for the killing of a general. Modest Hero is a game about the last journey of an ordinary man among those prisoners. As he is dragged towards the end that awaits him, our hero Victor travels in his imagination to his memories of the beginning of his life's most important adventure.
The game begins at the peak of the Age of Revolutions in France on the streets of a city left desolate by a violent civil war. The modest hero of the game, Victor, and his six captured friends like him, are downhearted and angry but somewhat hopeful as they proceed towards the place where they will be judged, because the instinct to survive, even in the most appalling situations, can produce brazen courage.

User Reviews
Modest Hero turns out to be a very well written indie game which perfectly depicts the ordinary workers' life, struggle, retribution and political/social evolution through the uprisings of 19th century France. A must-play for any fan of historical games and narratives.
Upsides: Surprising ending that brings a smile to your face Appropriate sounds and music for each chapter Nice aesthetics Easy-to-learn controls Not a lot of replayability Downsides: The end is not a happy ending Some chapters can be hard, repetitive and nerve-wracking. I even found one a bit scary at times. Conclusion: Overall, the game is interesting and well-made, however, I felt that it is too expensive where I live. Since the price of this game can change depending on where you live, I would advise any potential buyers to check whether such a game might interest you, and if so, whether or not you think that it is worth the price. It is a good game, don't get me wrong, however, it is only worth ~4 hours of content.
This is certainly a product of love by a one-person developer. Its atmosphere is striking and it drives the point of the game well. The mechanics are clunky, but the point of the game is not them but the narration, which tells a story in which you can't help but feel the emotions of the character. The game does drag at points but I think this is thematic to the feelings of the character at those points in the story. It's also a good window to one of the least touched-upon moments of the past, and the conflict of the characters involved in it, not as specific individuals but as stand-ins for sections of society. I do think that the game is on the expensive side, but I feel no regrets in supporting this small, inspired project. Also, there's no replayability for this game, but that is to be expected.
It´s an interesting short game for history buffs like me, but the price is too expensive considering how short it is (about 2 to 3 hours). It is the 1st game I know with the theme being the french revolutionary events of 1830 and 1848, being that basically the reason why I bought it in the 1st place. Recommend it on Sales Season.
It is an excellent little game that accurately and interestingly depicts the historical events of the French Revolution of 1848 and the workers' struggle of that time.
Slow short game. Mildly interesting. Prolly should be $3-5 not $10.
My Experience I like a lot of the ideas explored by Modest Hero. What is a corrupt system except for the people that reinforce and benefit from it? What happens when those that we are close to place their allegiance with such a system? Is it possible to befriend death herself, and is such an acquaintance necessary to engage in the self-sacrifice so often required for societal change? These are some of the questions proposed by developer Deniz Kayacan. Although these grand ideas emerged afterwards as I reflected on the game, the gameplay itself is much less notable. Most of your time in the game will be spent taking step after plodding step as your wan, permanently shell-shocked protagonist weaves fabric, shoots a rifle, punches the authorities, or wanders around in a prison cell. It's not that the gameplay pieces themselves are poorly designed - it's that the pace of the game as a whole is so sluggish. It's impossible that the developer isn't aware of the egregiously-slow w...
