Overkill's back on their bullshit with every heist beyond the core set being DLC. Weapons? DLC. Heisters? DLC. What was a beloved series has gotten this mockery of a pay-to-play jigsaw puzzle as the newest installment.
i will say this,, payday 3... has potential. Payday 3 is actually fairly fun outside of some of the BS, but hardcore fans and players aren't happy with changes that lower casual experience too cloakers are worse than PD2, tasers are worse than PD2, it's overall easier if i'm being honest, just get Payday 2 with all available DLCs than this, until the devs fix the mess
Some quality of life changes was made, graphical fidelity has improved slightly over payday2, but thats it. Stealth is dumbed down from last game, all objectives are centered around 4 possible options. Loud is fun for a while, but afterwards you settle on optimal build for you. Guns feel better than 2nd initially but fall off as soon as you hit a wall of customisation options. There is no in depth gun customisation and divercity 2nd had, that encouraged the grind for the sake of variety. No collecting Gage packages across any missions to unlock rare mods, just grind 15k xp lmao. Would you want to play with that gun afterwards? Who cares! In general, game lacks divercity, planning and replayablity on which the previous parts was build and for which they were praised for. It is not worth the money or time invested for most, it just capitalises on nostalgia and gives us additcs a hit of the past franshise glory in which this game is a shadow of its former self and a disapointment

In august of 2025 there's still so much server issues, i want to enjoy this game i really do but the connection problems are still too much. also the lack of side content after almost 2 YEARS of release.
not great. pretty fun but forgettable, nothing is quite as good or memorable as payday 2. was worth it on sale, but i would be quite upset if i paid full price for it

I bought this game when it first came out almost 2 years ago now and stopped playing because of bad servers, challenge based progression that was more of a chore than anything, and overall lack of polish. I started playing again a couple days ago to see whats changed and am disappointed. I have not tested the servers because i prefer to play solo but the game is terrible for solo players even with the solo beta. The challenges have gone away which is good. I did try to mod the game to make solo play a little more fun only to be met with a could not find game config error that has practically bricked my game. I can not say this enough DO NOT BUY this game and anyone who says to let them cook still is delusional at this point at the pace they are going it might be good in 10 years.
Two years later this game still doesn't feel like it is out of it's beta. As a diehard fan of the franchise, I really feel pain giving it a negative review. ;(
ONLY buy this game ON SALE (if u REALLY REALLY want it). this game could have been so much better but they took too long to release this. Feels like a Payday 2 DLC ported to new-gen consoles 5/10
