I dislike horror games. I dislike survival games. I dislike survival horror. But this kept me going with the story and bread crumbs of lore all over the place. The story and lore and mentally developed horror of what is happening and slowly going on and how it happens just kept me playing. I got it on sale and it was worth it. Some games are not here for hundreds of hours. Sometimes a story consumed under 10 hours can just stick with you for a while. Highly recommend.

About This Game

Searching for dreams inside of a nightmare
Awaken from slumber and explore a surreal retrotech world as Elster, a technician Replika searching for her lost partner and her lost dreams. Discover terrifying secrets, challenging puzzles, and nightmarish creatures in a tense and melancholic experience of cosmic dread and classic psychological survival horror.

SIGNALIS is set in a dystopian future where humanity has colonized the solar system, and the totalitarian regime of Eusan maintains an iron grip through aggressive surveillance and propaganda. Humanoid androids known as Replikas live among the populace, acting as workers, civil servants, and Protektors alongside the citizens they are designed to resemble.
The story of SIGNALIS begins as a Replika named Elster awakens from cryostasis in a wrecked vessel. Now stranded on a cold planet, she sets out on a journey into depths unknown.
Experience fear and apprehension as you encounter strange horrors, carefully manage scarce resources, and seek solutions to challenging riddles.
Explore the dim corners of a derelict spaceship, delve into the mysterious fate of the inhabitants of a doomed facility, and seek what lies beneath.
Discover an atmospheric science-fiction tale of identity, memory, and the terror of the unknown and unknowable, inspired by classic cosmic horror and the works of Stanley Kubrick, Hideaki Anno, and David Lynch.
Wander a brutalist nightmare driven by fluid 3D character animations, dynamic lights and shadows, and complex transparency effects, complemented by cinematic sci-fi anime storytelling.

It's pretty scary but still enjoyable nonetheless, even if psychological horror games aren't your cup of tea. Fortunately, you can rest easy while playing this game knowing that the German language is merely a work of fiction intended solely to further enhance the dark and oppressive world of Signalis, and that it is unable to hurt you.
If someone asked me provide evidence for video games being a true art form I would have to include this game. Its absolutely worth the price and is an impactful 12 hours. If you're looking for advice before playing, all you need to do is remember your promise.
I found it to be sort of a mixed bag in terms of gameplay (please do not be afraid to spend bullets on enemies, it just bogs down gameplay otherwise), though I love the things that inspired the story and style. There were some awesome highs that kept me playing the game to the end.
Basically lesbian simulator, but with toned down graphics (I love this game)
Usually I don't play horror/suspense survival and, hell, even isometric-style games; however, I had to make an exception for this one. The art style, the background music, world design, character design, motives, and how it uses folklore, mythology, and famous paintings was exceptional. None of the choices (regarding design) were just "it's cool" or random. 10/10 Would gladly play it again. (I got he promise ending with 18 hours of gameplay...)
Indie games just hit different. Genuinely one of the best survival horror experiences I’ve ever had.
TL;DR: One of the best video games, or pieces of media, I’ve ever experienced. You play now!!! I literally just bought this game again on sale just so I could leave a review and give the devs more money. I originally only had it through family share or on PlayStation. I think that alone should tell you how much I love this game. To keep my review of Signalis short (because I could honestly write a whole book on everything it does right), I’ll break it down into three main things, gameplay, story, and puzzles. Gameplay: Signalis refines the survival horror genre down to its very essence. The dopamine I get from pushing one puzzle further, getting one step closer to finishing a floor it’s impossible to put into words. The gunplay and combat feel fantastic, especially on harder difficulties where it’s punishing but still fair, and never so easy that it loses its sense of fear. Across the board, Signalis nails survival horror design in a way that makes other games in the genre lo...
What an extroardinary love story disguised (not so much) as a gut wrenching horror game.
The atmosphere, the sound, the visuals (aside from the anime-inspired cutscene bullshit maybe) are pretty great. But the story and the actual gameplay are tedious as fuck. The game isn't even hard, it's just annoying. I could barely bring myself to finish it. To me it's one of those overhyped style over substance games that people rave about, even though they don't really understand why, because that *feels* like the right thing to do.
