ReThink Evolved 4 is a first person puzzle game where the player must use a variety of different types of cubes to redirect coloured laser beams and activate switches of the same colour. This is the seventh game in the series so if you’ve played any of the previous games you’ll have a good idea what to expect from the gameplay. RTE4 features a couple of new cube types which affect the puzzles in interesting ways. One cube will output whichever colours are not input, so for example if you shine blue and green into the cube, you’ll receive red back out. The other is a pair of linked cubes that teleport a laser between them, so you could place those cubes in different rooms, shine a laser into the first cube and it will exit from the second cube. Some of the puzzles have multiple solutions which allows the player to be creative, especially towards the end of the game, where I was able to solve some puzzles while not using all of the available cubes. Difficulty : 2.5/5 (A bit Hard) Global : 2.5/5 (Good) Curator page : Anokturnus ReThink Evolved 4 is a step in the right direction for the Evolved series. The previous Evolved games were too easy, this one is actually pretty balanced. This game contains a lot of big puzzles consisting of several smaller interconnected ones and I love it. My only complaint would be the optimization of the puzzles. There are far too many levels with leftover cubes, and even levels in which you don't have to use the switch. I know the Evolved series gives a lot more freedom to the player so it's riskier to make it harder... but as long as the solution doesn't require unfair laser angles, I don't really see the problem. E-7 is a perfect example of that. It's hard and challenging but if you add just one more cube, the level becomes easy and not that interesting. Some levels probably suffered from that. I already discussed this subjec...
This is the seventh game in the ReThink franchise and the fourth game in the ReThink | Evolved series, and this is definitely the best one so far. Some new cubes and new mechanics have been added which allow for more complex puzzles than previous games, and they definitely added to my enjoyment. The core concept of the ReThink games is to light a series of colored targets with laser light. How you combine the lasers to achieve the correct colors and how you place and angle the lasers to hit the correct targets is up to you. Sometimes the puzzles are easy, sometimes the puzzles are difficult, and sometimes the puzzles are quite tricky. There were many times when I was scratching my head for a bit and finally had the "Aha!" moment, which was very fulfilling. Also, from what I recall of the previous games in the franchise, this one is more spacious, with many of the puzzles spanning several sections. I definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes puzzles.
I post this review here (and on the original ReThink page too) since it's the latest game in the series, but it's more like I'm reviewing the franchise as a whole. Imagine you take the redirection cubes and other laser materials (and hard light bridges) from Portal 2 and make a puzzle game out of them with tri-color lasers and no possibility of death (or even injury). Now imagine on top of that you add in a simplified version of the art style of Mirror's Edge (modern, clean, and grayscale with one special color). That's the whole ReThink series in a nutshell. This applies to all the ReThink games:

The puzzles are good — even a little challenging at times. Mind the name "Evolved" if you will — the "Evolved" series is, perhaps paradoxically, easier than the main ReThink games.
The visuals seem to keep getting better and better (though imho this last one overdoes it slightly — by losing its sleek glassy simplicity, it may turn rather ugly). Can't say this is guaran...
After Rethink Evolved 1-3 i was hungry for more ... and i finally got it ! Rethink Evolved series is a puzzel game where each series is doing different types of puzzels where you have to rething and think diferently all the time .. The puzzels are not easy and Rethink Evolved 4 holds your hand less then the earlier versions, It also gives a bit less hell then like rething 3 that had even good video tutorials ( The developer often updates and adds new features to it game later so this might have changed later ) Performance has been greate after i set the Shadow setting from high to medium that did not seem to have had any real visual impact. That was the only issue i had where i did go from 28 FPS to 130 FPS with just that one setting . The puzzels so far are as always really great and really diverse, They are also quite allot different. Anyone that loves puzzel games for sure will love this game here. For a 1 man project i can only prais this game and even if a team would made ...
Good laser puzzle game. Like the first three ReThink Evolved games, this one has some complicated puzzles, and many of the puzzles can be completed with using some creative (and probably unintended) solutions. The only real negative things I can say about this game is there are no achievements :( Also there are some bugs, the most obvious being color-inverting cube, but sometimes throwing an object by pressing the right mouse button can cause that object to go through walls. Fortunately each level has a reset button, so all is not lost.
I absolutely love this game. The graphics are beautiful and the puzzles are great fun. I have now purchased all the other ReThink puzzle laser games. HIghly recommend this game.
The currently last entry of the ReThink series stumbles a bit, but is still fun. A lot of the later puzzles rely on a few too many variables, which can lead to a bit of trial & error, but the game itself is still fun. A few new mechanics, like portal cubes and inverter cubes, are also introduced and keep the game fresh. Difficult and fun - I can't wait for entry number 8!
Another excellent laser-game by Yaeko
Like all of the other rethink games, this one looks great and was fun to play. My only feedback to Yaeko would be that some of the larger moving platforms could be a little slow - which I could imagine is necessary to keep cubes in place - and holders for cubes or crystals were pretty tight fits. They never got to be annoying though and were just very slight inconveniences. Very much looking forward to the next one! Would absolutely recommend this series to first person puzzle lovers, especially if it's on sale.
