About This Game

If you are up for a casual yet spicy cocktail of action and strategy, but not planning to spend hours learning how to play, then Rover Wars might just be your thing.

You jump straight into the action with your little Rover to start building factories and hurting enemy units. The tactics in the game are in resource management and the placement of factories. Factories poop out minions that will find their way to the enemy facilities and destroy them. Once you destroy the enemy base, you win. simple.

Rover Wars has a neat local multiplayer system. It allows up to 8 users to join the game. To avoid couch conflicts we implemented some brilliant AI to battle cooperatively. There are always 2 teams and each side has a maximum of 4 Rovers. During battle, players can even switch teams or add some AI.

Rover Wars has a campaign mode and a battle mode. The campaign mode will keep the average player busy for about 2 hours. Instead of providing a deep story, the campaign focuses on challenging you incrementally. You can play the campaign in co-op too.

Besides the campaign there is also the battle mode. This allows you to battle in one of the 17 instantly available maps and tweak many settings such as base strength and AI intelligence.

 • Explosions? Yes, lots of them!
 • Many maps? Yes, 17!
 • Local multiplayer? Yes, up to 8 players can join.
 • Different environments? Yes, there is a dusty Mars planet, a freezing ice world and a mossy place to fight in.
 • Online play? Yes, We integrated Steam Remote Play. With a decent internet connection it works very well.

An average match takes about 5 to 20 minutes depending on the amount of players and the AI level. The game has good replay value and is good fun to play with a bag of crisps and a few beers. If you would play the campaign with a friend the total man hours of fun would sum up to 4 hours. That means you paid about the same for a few drinks and the crisps as for the game... unless you live in Finland.

Controls aren't very intuitive - Repeatedly smashing "A" on the controller or "Down" on the keyboard to attack isn't very functional. -I would ultimately remap the attack function all together to a trigger on the controller or another key on the keyboard to just hold down to do normal attacks. -Menu controls are horrendous and no mouse support for options or menus. Some achievements are seemingly unobtainable - after destroying many units It still counts as 0 units destroyed. really choppy main unit movement - looks like 10fps while the "AUTObots" are more fluid. I honestly can't recommend this game as much as i really really would like to.

Fantastic little game! Like an arcade RTS, highly recommend. Brief, tutorial esque campaign, and plenty of multiplayer features to enjoy. Unique take on the controls too!

Simple game concept and yet so smart. Playing this is just a lot of fun. Strategic and fast-paced and also a bit chaotic.

Cute little RTS with an interesting economic model: you spend money to build unit spawners, and you get roughly enough money to build a unit spawner by killing just one unit that an enemy unit spawner spawned. If you have a surplus of money, you can also spend it by blasting a bunch of the enemy unit spawners into oblivion (by spending somewhere between "a lot more money than it took to build them" to "just a little bit more money than it took to build them", depending on the exact placement of your blast). So each match has a nice give-and-take going on, where the enemy being on the offensive helps fund your counterattack, and vice-versa. I think my biggest problem with the game is probably that the actual attack you get isn't that fun to use, spamming a spinny slash isn't exactly quality top-down shooter-material.

My Experience First off, let me preface this by saying that I've probably played less than an hour of MOBAs in my life. I've never really been all that keen on competitive multiplayer. However, the description of Rover Wars mentions real-time strategy and a co-op campaign, two things that are in pitifully short supply. I convinced a friend to try the campaign with me using Steam's Remote Play Together feature (a co-op lover's best friend) and we got started. However, rather than focusing on tech or working your way up to a particularly powerful unit (such as Starcraft's carriers - I know, I'm a garbage Starcraft player), Rover Wars is more about macro. I often felt like I was playing Blokus or something, trying to crowd the map with as many structures as quickly as possible. Each level felt like a tedious war of attrition, and we quickly became exhausted with the game. While I must admit that I found the "deathray" amusing (ion cannon-type mechanics are...

A very fun and short game with tons of potential! Easy rock-paper-scissors gameplay mixed with almost a MOBA-like attitude. Fun little campaign with an adorable ending. Hope to see more with it! Definitely worth the money!

Whoa this game is intense! I did the first two planets of the campaign now. The first planet serves as tutorial while on the second planet all troops are unlocked. The player controls a rover who can build factories and attack manually. The factories produce small bots that target the enemy factories and ultimately the base. This results in a hectic back and forth where you try to control certain portions of the map by destroying enemy factories and building your own instead. Keep an eye on your resource meter! Resources can be earned by attacking enemy bots. I still need to figure out which type of troops I need for which situations.
