[A Library Battle Simulation]
Library of Ruina is a game that uses the concept of a “Library Battle Simulation”.
You will invite guests to the Library and engage in combat with them to gain 'Books' with their stories.
Battles are played with the 'Librarians' and the 'Guests' using cards and dice.
You can plan against the guests’ moves by looking at the cards they will use and select the most optimal card to oppose them.
When combat begins, how the dice from your chosen card fall will determine victory or defeat in the struggle.
However, the outcome of the dice is not simply determined by pure luck.
Certain effects and variables will shift the outcome of the dice for and against your favor.
Be sure to carefully choose which cards you utilize to win the battle with your guests.
Behold the outcome of your choices and how luck unfolds as your librarians and guests skirmish.
You can go through an exhilarating experience, putting it all on the line with thrills just like betting.
[Conflicts that Build Emotion]
Confrontation in the Library is not just about killing your enemies, it is about heightening emotions.
The emotions of the librarians and guests rise as the battle progresses, and as it grows fiercer and comes to a head, they will surge.
Depending on your librarian's feelings, positive outcomes or powerful effects with penalties can occur.
In addition, as the emotional tension of the guests grows, the difficulty of combat increases, yet at the same time, rarer books can be acquired.
Furthermore, dialogue can appear depending on the situation of the battle and will make one’s viewing experience of the match unfolding even more enjoyable.
[Books Can Be Anything]
A guest who dies in the Library will turn into a book.
These books can be a librarian's body, materials to grow the Library, or new cards for battle.
You can also use books as the parts of an invitation to bring forth another guest.
Invite different guests to acquire various books, then utilize them accordingly.
How you make use of your collection to grow the Library is up to you.
[The Story of the City and the Library]
In Library of Ruina, you will be witness to the stories of Angela, the Sephirot, and Roland following the ending of Lobotomy Corporation.
You will also watch various events occurring around the huge city in which the Library is located.
Accumulate books to grow your Library and librarians, and invite more powerful guests to gain better books.
From lowly canards to urban legends and beyond...
Throughout the game, you will gradually become familiar with the story of the City.
May you find your book in this place…

game doesn't have buttplug support when you get staggered but its still really good dont play limbus though that game is really bad
As much as I am in love with the game's story and characters, I gotta say, your time is better spent watching a play-through rather than playing it. The game is muddled with a comical amount of pointless busywork; between the never-ending grind for Books and the constant remaking and retrofitting of your builds, only a small fraction of your time will be spent progressing through the story. This is worsened by the game's Abnormality battles, for every one fun and interesting fight with engaging mechanics, there's three mind-numbingly boring and tedious fights. None of this is helped by the game's irritatingly vertical difficulty curve. I know that difficulty can be a huge selling point for games (I mean, look at how popular Dark Souls is), and I do think quite a few of the Reception are quite fun despite their difficulty, but Ruina kinda ruins it with how much slaving over modifiers you have to do to progress. Sometimes beating a tough reception feels like coming back home after a lon...
great game if you are good at strategy enjoy reading or are smart.. sadly im neither of the 4 i just mentioned.. still fun
incredible game, will stick with me for a long long time. words can not even begin to describe how much i adore this game
very funny, very sure that it doesn't cause nightmares about magical snakes, wax angels, dragon ladies, nor people with blue hair
we must repeat the cycle until we get that one true book open the curtains lights on don't miss a moment of this experiment
Best game I can never recommend to friends due to the difficulty and the requirement to play Lobotomy Corporation first. Story can seem disjointed at first but all ties together nicely in the end, great world building and music. Deck building allows for plenty of flexibility from the large amount of key pages, combat pages, and passives to test out, with each floor having their own number of broken synergies to stumble into. Also what do you mean a major story boss in Limbus Company, [spoiler] that even with a full team of 12 members and deus ex machina shenanigans we canonically still lost to [/spoiler], is the equivalent of a grunt enemy from a normal story encounter in Library of Ruina.
There are quite a few games following the basic premise of "what if you ran the dungeon the heroes of a classic tale were challenging" now, but Library of Ruina is probably my favorite, because of how it centers not the perceived novelty of the idea itself, but the emotional aspect of it. "How do people justify harming others for the sake of their goals?", that is the question at the center of this game regarding both the staff of the mystical library you are controlling and its "guests". Beyond that intriguing set-up, I'd describe Library of Ruina as a challenging but (mostly) fair deck-building RPG with well thought-out lore and an excellent story, set in a universe that mixes horror, cyberpunk and fantasy elements. It manages to be dark without feeling edgy or overly reliant on shock value and it generally doesn't touch subject matters it doesn't have anything significant to say about. My only complaint is that some of the later battles, in particular the Keter Realization, feel ...
Should have had BongBong as a reception, but still a good game.
