Well that was extremely silly and good fun for a couple of hours. (Note: if you're the kind of person who completes a game in under two hours and then refunds it, the kind of person you are is a wanker; don't do that.)

Fantastic mix of pixel art, music and old school platforming challenge! And I really feel I can relate to a tale of a Dinosaur going through so much personal challenges, all for some pizza!

Scoot Kaboom is the first game (that I know of) from a YouTuber who's been creating game (mostly Unity) based tutorials, gameplays, and game reviews for over 7 years now. He knows his stuff and delivers his content in a well liked and concise manner. This game is everything like that but turned up to 11. It's one giant map you can zoom in and out and see all at once (when you reveal the sections after passing by more than generous checkpoints). The traps are fun and build as you move your way through the tomb, getting harder and harder as you get deeper and deeper. It's nail biting, pulse pounding, and full of fun and excitement around every corner. Once you hit that checkpoint to reveal the next section you scream "Are you kidding me?!" at the next challenge. Timing is everything and sometimes you just have to wait for the traps to fall in line. I'm only 15 or 20 minutes in so far and completed about 1/8 of the map. This is not an indication of depth as I completely suck. You will ...

I umm'd and ahh'd as to whether to review this as recommended or not for a couple of weeks after completing. I ultimately erred on the side of recommending, as the game does deserve more attention than I feel it's gotten, but the recommendation is almost conditional on doing the YOLO (which has it's own drawbacks beyond just being another stupid platformer YOLO). Further detail below. For a casual player, the experience is short-lived. You get to the end, you get your food of choice, and you're done. This takes under 2 hours for a first play through. The additional modes do little to liven the game up, adding a new gimmick that changes how the game is played in some way that ultimately just gives the same experience with a slightly different shade of paint over the top. If your goal is to 'just get to the end', I'd recommend against the game. Where the game shines though is in figuring out cycles, figuring out approaches to make consistent that which seems like some haphazard BS the...

TLDR: Scoot Kaboom and the Tomb of Doom is a really fun burst of platformer goodness. It's a very short experience if you only want to play through once. Though if you are a completionist, it offers replay value with unlockable modes and characters. If you are like me (less of a completionist who prefers to move to another game after seeing the credits) then you should expect somewhere around a 2 hour experience. I personally prefer more condensed experiences, so I had absolutely no problem with this, but I could see how others might feel differently. That said I found this to be a very fun, challenging, and less brutal experience than what you would expect from these types of hard-core platformer games. I don't think that I was stuck on any particular hazard for more than 10-15 minutes, and I was able to surpass most in what felt like only a couple of attempts. The game also comes with some nifty settings that you can alter to make the default experience either easier or more challen...

What a game. Rage games aren't usually my thing but there's a cute and nostalgic appeal to the game which keeps bringing me back and I can't stop playing and trying to get further in the Tomb of Doom. If you can play this game please do, honestly it's such a great experience that will get you questioning all that is good and holy, but still playing. Amazing work!

Cheap deaths? Sure, but also gives you that "I'll def get it with the next try" feeling. It's great and addictive!!!
