Despite it's age and apparent simplicity, this game still holds up. What I like: - The music is actually kind of amazing. There aren't too many tracks, but the ones that are there are memorable and on the right side of a bit cheesy. I unironically love it. - While facing computer-controlled components is the majority of the game, there are a bunch of other variations that you can do optionally to gain and improve skills. There's 'clear the board' puzzles, a mode where your turns are timed, and one which introduces an extra 8th object you can create doing 4 and 5 matches. This keeps the game from getting too stale. - The game has a large variety of different builds; the stats and abilities you get start simple based on your class, but you get to customize stat allocation each level and collect extra spells from enemies you capture and creatures you recruit, and your chosen equipment also has an effect.
