The game has a lot of charm with nice artwork, cutscenes and music but sadly the gameplay just becomes too repetitive to me. You only get short bits of story progress between the same combat over and over while barely learning new moves that just slightly change your moveset, no real new strategies.

About This Game

Promising the Sabotage touch in every system, Sea of Stars aims to modernize the classic RPG in terms of turn-based combat, storytelling, exploration and interactions with the environment, while still offering a hearty slice of nostalgia and good old, simple fun.
Pressing the action button in sync with the animations increases damage output while reducing incoming damage. Along with timed hits, combat features multi-character combo attacks, boosting, and a strategic "locks" system offering options to play with different damage types in order to hinder enemies while they are channeling powerful attacks or spells, all in an immersive take on the genre; no random encounters, no transitions to separate battlefields, and no grinding.
Swim, climb, vault, jump off or hoist up ledges as you traverse seamlessly through the world with a navigation system based on platformer expertise that breaks free from the classic bound-to-the-grid tileset movement.
Our custom-made render pipeline allows the creation of a breathtaking world coming to life by pushing the limits of 2D pixel-art games.
Dozens of original characters and story arcs will take you on a captivating journey. Sometimes epic, sometimes silly, and other times emotional, Sea of Stars does its RPG duty of exploring classic themes of adventure and friendship, while also being chock-full of the unexpected twists and events you’d expect from a Sabotage production.
There are many ways to hang out in the world of Sea of Stars if you feel the need for a change of pace in your adventures. Sailing, cooking, fishing, stopping by a tavern to listen to a song or play the infamous tabletop game known as "Wheels".....every system has been designed to deliver an experience that pays respect to retro classics, while rethinking in some areas to offer a smooth and modernized experience.
Sea of Stars’ adventure is playable in its entirety by up to three players. Allies can drop in and out anytime to traverse the world together and master the Co-op Timed Hits combat mechanic. Also available via Steam Remote Play Together.

Ive seen alot of "this game is good, but not amazing" "crowd goes mild" type reviews. for me, I think this game actually leans more into the amazing category based on a lot of what it does well, and even its weakest points get much better after the DLC. for me, the game was a blast to play. Just exploring the world and doing puzzles and being in the universe was a treat the whole time, due to its vibe and aesthetic. Graphics and style are the strongest point of the game I would say and 100% one of the reasons to play it. while I wouldnt say graphics matter that much in what makes most games good... here it definitely matters because it captures a feeling (the nostalgia old style rpg feel) and is part of the general joy of just playing the game. I would follow that up by saying the next best part to me was the music (could easily be the best part of the game for some). there are soooo many good tracks in this game. found myself humming quite a few of them in my daily life. third w...
Oooof, definitely a mixed review game. PROS: Art Style and aesthetic. Yes, all this draws you into the game and the devs get a 12/10 for this one. But that's really all this game has going for it. It's enjoyable and nostalgic to play, but it's really hard to see it through over a 30 some hour campaign. CONS: gameplay and story. The actual game gets boring and frustrating fast. The story is not strong enough to keep you interested in continuing to slog through it. I came back to this game when I heard there was DLC and decided to finally play through it. Mad props to the devs. They put a lot into this game and made something with heart. But about half way through I was just playing this game to get through it and clear it off my shelf. Got to credits and was very happy to uninstall and be done with it. I was hoping to be interested in the DLC and True Ending but no, it's just not fun enough to make it there.
It's a pretty good turn-based rpg. If you liked chrono trigger, mario and luigi, or generally like the genre, you'll probably have a good time. The story isn't GOAT or anything but it's good prepare to get your teeth kicked in by the dlc a little bit at first if you do that this game is like an actual 9/10 not an IGN 9/10
fully believe this game was hand made for me personally. loved it. felt incredibly nostalgic while keeping things like combat and treasure hunts refreshing and new if you play a lot of rpg maker games. the writing is mid but its cute. multiplayer function seems sort of asinine but it could be useful for playing online, or if you need to hand a controller to a younger sibling/cousin/child/etc. all in all a very fun and cute game. the art style is just beautiful and each area felt unique and stylized. good variation of enemies. the clockwork dlc scratches every itch the main game misses, and also adds some substance to the main characters which is a nice touch. every inch of this game oozes the developer's genuine love for making it. 10/10 adorable game
Has noticeable stutter when scrolling vertical and sideways. It micro stutters when moving up and down and has significant chop when moving sideways. When scrolling horizontal it is smooth. There are forums with these issues but the solution is inconclusive. TV settings and in game settings did not fix the issue. Seems like it is a game engine problem. There is no way the developer didn't catch this in the first few days of development. I suppose most people just ignore it, but so did the developers.
Positives? It does a very good job of copying the style of JRPG normally found around the SNES era. While everything is clearly more modern and updated, it still has that feel throughout. Legit dropped the game for a year and came back and not a step lost. Negatives... So in this game, you're just not the protagonist. In an attempt to make it seem "You can pick either playable gender!" They game forgot to actually write characters. Neither playable character matters because their best friend the lovable fat dude is the main character. Plot doesn't go anywhere without him, when he's not around everyone sits around talking about him, and for the love of Jesus Christ why does he have almost all of the plot relevant conversations? Your characters either casually nitpick his opinion or support it wholely. Like if you wanted to make the game with the comic relief funny guy as the focus of the story and the main character... why didn't you? Instead now I have two characters that are so poorl...
the art is amazing the music is amazing the exploration feels cool ... ... the combat becomes sooooo tedious, i want to avoid any enemy that is not a bosss because the fight is just annoying. not difficult. just annoying. the combat system did not change at all from the start of the game and the animations and turns take so long. i start just spamming buttons and praying that it ends so i can continue trying to open the chest i saw. also the main characters fall flat big time, the game introduces new characters with interesting stories, while the main ones you start with dont change at all, have no personality and do nothing. if you dont mind boring player characters and can stand some tedious overworld encounters it will still be fun for you, but for me this was too annoying to sit through.
Was fun at first, but got boring when I realized the gameplay doesn't change much after the first hour. The writing is also something a child would make up with the amount of cliches there are. This game is also really linear even though they tried to give some customization to you. Like I don't even get the point of the rougelike elements when leveling up and you just end up using the same skills over and over again only getting mana inbetween. Imo they should have made skills be based on cooldowns not mana as everything else in the game is with cooldowns(eg enemy attacks).
oyun bi 6 kere falan biter gibi oluyo ama yapımcıların hikaye yazma fetişi yüzünden bitmiyo
