doesn't work consistently online at all. you have to download punkbuster from the website and do a bunch of extra shit just to not get booted instantly from a server. once you've done that the game might just be stuck at 15 fps until you use a console command. oh and every time you die it resets the FPS bug! nice job EA!

This is a Tutorial NOT a review: I played this a long time ago on 360 and wanted to relive the glory days with a modern gaming PC, but was shocked when it only rat at like 20-40 FPS on my computer. Simple fix on windows is to go to "Game Mode Settings" on your windows search bar, and click on "Graphics". Then find and expand Battlefield 3, and hit the dropdown to select "GPU Preference", and make sure it is set to performance and to your actual GPU. For whatever reason by default my game wasn't using my GPU properly but this immediately fixed the problem. For the issue of PunkBuster install script running forever and never launching the game, go into the game files (steam/steamapps/common/battlefield3), and go into the _Installer folder and delete the subfolder called pb or pbsetup or something like that, and it runs perfect.
a timeless classic that still holds up greatly to this day. i didn't play that much this battlefield, i played it a bit on console and here on pc for getting the achievements it was a good throwback
The destruction in this game, for it's time, was unparalleled. To this day not many games beat it except maybe BF4, but only slightly. The gun fights are intense as fuck. GOAT BF game. Doubt BF6 can live up to this, but let's see.
Silly idiot me thinking I could simply play Battlefield 3, a game I had so many fond memories of playing it on xbox360 as a kid. Launching the game from steam does not work. Launching the game from the clunky, bloated, idiotic EA launcher that seated itself onto my pc like a parasite does not work. After I got sent 4 different email codes, and linked 2 accounts, still the game did not launch. After being prompted to download an app on my phone, I found out to play Battlefield 3 EA launches a tab on your default browser. You have to find a server on their webpage, then the game will launch itself after a significant amount of loading. And it puts you right into the server. No main menu. No options. You're in the game and ready to deploy. WHAT? I couldn't even devise a more gruesome way to play a game if my life depended on it. People still play Battlefield 3 because it's the last good game in the franchise. Let them play it. I got it for 90% off and I feel cheated. You'd have thrice...
Prankbuster, gotta open EA client and internet browser just to play the game, 90% fail rate to boot the game. This game is dogshit and designed by a retard
Owing to more launcher bullshit from EA, playing this game is now impossible
installed game installed EAS launcher fought launcher for 35 minutes fought another garbage launcher made it into game dies 5 times cause controller support is trash uninstalls
Excellent game in a genuinely mindbogglingly poor state. Managed to make the game launch after an hour's work only to be repeatedly kicked by some decrepit anti-cheat(?) software misfiring every five minutes. Looked up a solution and it involved far too much, refunded
