The game is a solid 1.5 to 2 hour experience with puzzles, a linear story, and an interesting mechanic that changes the surroundings depending on what it is you read or see, rooms change and time changes. I'll try to make it a very simplistic review, is it worth $10? Maybe not exactly, as it has no replay value. $5-6 feels like it'd be the sweet spot. If you do want to take the plunge, it is an interesting story, it's not too intense of a horror game, it doesn't have cheap jump scares. It's mostly focus on the plot and narrative of why the House exists and what is wrong with it, and learning of the history behind it all. If you want an interesting narrative-built story with a side of Horror? This would be for you. The Pros are, the game is well made, I can tell the developer put good time, polish and effort in this game. It's tightly knit and consistent throughout. It's much more polished than the average 'indie horror'. The choice of ambience isn't 'amazing' but it fits the pacing w...

About the Game
Knowledge is power. By a sudden circumstance, everything you read and learn becomes true in front of your eyes. When a gruesome verse written on a wall in blood turns into reality, do you want to keep reading? Knowledge is painful.Korpus is a first-person horror game in which you have been sent to evaluate an abandoned house in Eastern Europe as a real estate agent. Uncover the houses past as you learn what horrors it hides.
The game is inspired by the video games of the 90s. The game hasn't been made to look like a carbon copy; instead, it has been inspired by the visual style of that nostalgic era of gaming and has brought it to the modern standards.
Features
- The house changes based on the things you know. You just learned that the dark hallway has one more door in it and a vengeful ghost is coming after you? There is now.
- The game is an unconventional horror game perceived from the first perspective. There is no combat – all the monsters must be dealt with indirect means, either by avoiding, hiding or something cleverer.
- The ghosts lurking in the dark corners of the house work in different ways. Some are hostile, some or not, but only one thing is clear: they will not make your journey to the source of the madness any easier.
- In order to solve the secrets of the house, you need to figure out how the house works. Is one specific bookshelf in your way and need it to disappear? Read a note that contradicts its existence.

Korpus was a really fun game to stream! Took me a bit less than 3 hours to beat it. The story kept me hooked right from the beginning and the way the house changed with the story was very clever. The puzzles felt immersive and were tied well into the story. The PS1 era inspired graphics worked well with the whole concept and the game looked and felt polished. The soundscape made the environment believable and atmospheric. A solid horror game experience to enjoy in one sitting!
Korpus: Over the Black Soil is a solid horror game, not relying on constant cheap jumpscares and going for a more athmospheric approach. The Ps1 era graphics are candy for the eyes. Piecing the story together around the house is a good way to make the environment change. However the gimmick of "changing the environment around you" by reading or looking at pictures is not so well implemented. When it's done with photos it's well done because you have to recognize the place represented. With text it's maube too direct. The mazes are short and not that difficult to manage and still keep a tense athmosphere. I had a good time with the game for the hour and a half it lasted.
Authentic PS1 style graphics and with an atmosphere so spooky that I have to gather courage to play it.
I know you are in my house.
Korpus: Buried over the Black Soil is a short but clever game, with a pertinent reminder about an event that has been neglected in western history. The game's main pull - that the house reshapes itself depending on the notes you've read - is sadly a little underexplored, given that notes are seen only in a linear fashion, so the game has zero replay value. The game also falls prey to that all-too-common horror game trope wherein the main protagonist can only run for five seconds before wheezing and slowing to a crawl. However, the way the house does reshape is very clever, the graphics and atmosphere are impeccable, there are some very, very good spatial puzzles, the story is neat, and the game is a decent length for the price, provided you got it on sale. I think this game has been unfairly overlooked (probably due to the price), but it is worth a look. It is well made, even if some of the chase scenes are a bit lackluster (especial...
A genuinely scary, and thought-provoking title.
An atmospheric setting and an rollercoaster story make for a fantastic short story with a few stumbles along the way. Pros: Story is great Notes changing the layout is very cool Music and sound is top notch Lots of great visual spooks, think "Layers of Fear" without the questionable narm Cons: Iffy door physics can rip you out of the horror vibes, especially during tense moments The "Estate Agent" set up doesn't really matter in the long run and the supernatural aspects are never really justified The "Threat Encounters" vary from "Fine, but rely too much on the wonk doors" to "Insufferable mazes with goofy gunman enemy" Overall: I usually don't score games, but If I had to I'd say 8/10. Great Story that gets hamstringed in the end by an awful final enemy section. EDIT: I forgot to mention the main reason the "Threat Encounters" are a real pain in the arse, and that's because the player character has the stamina of a 75 year old smoker with severe COPD.
is good
The game looks and feels spooky but has far as the story and actual spooks go they leave alot to be desired, the enemy encounter sections is what made me quit they consist of bad gimmicks and dark mazes. it might be worth 10$ for Graphics so I would wait for a discount if your on the fence.
It's decent, worthwhile on sale as it is quite short and full price is a bit much for what you get. I like the art style, and the levels are well designed. It's not terrifying, but it is unsettling, and draws attention to an atrocity that is little known in the west. Although with that said, it's almost like two separate stories - the transition between those two stories was quite jarring. But overall it's fine, and worth a look if it's on sale and you need a decent horror experience for an hour or two.
