Kiryu will forever be in my heart as the Main Charakter. But Ichiban is a very very cool and lovely dude too, i even identify myself with him. Like...he is so lost in his world and has a great fantasy...like me, i always catch myself walking around in the world with a big weird smile because some scenarios in my head are playing..... (yes im weird lol) But yea. Nice Charakter, Nice Story, Nice new City, Nice minigames, nice side quests. They did a really great job here. The fighting system is not my favorite one, but thats a me problem, but for people wo like it: U will have fun. Sometimes...some abilitys....idk how to describe it, but...yeah, its fun to watch! xD I will definitely go on with the next Part of this series! I recommend this game! Yehaw!

RISE LIKE A DRAGON
Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking grunt of a low-ranking yakuza family in Tokyo, faces an 18-year prison sentence after taking the fall for a crime he didn't commit. Never losing faith, he loyally serves his time and returns to society to discover that no one was waiting for him on the outside, and his clan has been destroyed by the man he respected most.
Ichiban sets out to discover the truth behind his family's betrayal and take his life back, drawing a ragtag group of society’s outcasts to his side: Adachi, a rogue cop, Nanba, a homeless ex-nurse, and Saeko, a hostess on a mission. Together, they are drawn into a conflict brewing beneath the surface in Yokohama and must rise to become the heroes they never expected to be.

game forces you to be.... (TW E-WORD!!!) e*ployed.. really scary...
Damn, this made me tear up. I've beaten the game, and now... I feel Like a Dragon.
This is just the second game in the RGG franchise that I have the great pleasure of playing. And what a ride! I´m a sucker for these type of heart-warming, heart-wrenching, over-the-top serious, over-the-top silly games from Japan! Having finished this one I have to say that I really, REALLY liked Ichiban as a MC, I think he carries the franchise so well without being a Kyryu clone or living in his shadow. The RPG aspects were such a welcomed mechanic for me as well, as I tend to do well on those kind of games. I loved almost everything from the characters, to the optimistic setting, to the way the story develops and the minigames and the plethora of stuff you can distract yourself from the main story. All in all, I think this is a great addition to the franchise and I cannot wait to play every other entry, I have a lot of road to walk, but as Ichi would say: when you´re at rock bottom, the only way to go is up!
I liked it until I got to the part where it basically said "You need to grind this combat tower over and over until you're high enough level to go on". Some incredibly weak ass shit.
So first for the good points, the story is great. Like really good actually, it has everything you would want from a yakuza game: great characters, emotional moments, politics, comedy, etc... Kasuga is a really cool character and you get to see him grow alongside the whole game. The world is also really well developed, with a ton of mini-games, restaurants, NPCs, etc.. to make it come alive. It really looks like Japan, and the environment artists didn't neglect any details. Now for the bad part, the actual RPG gameplay is just bad. It's basically like a dumbed down version of Dragon Quest. You have a bunch of basic attacks, which can trigger a resist/weakness depending on their type, plus some healing skills and buffs/debuffs. There's no skill tree, instead you have to pick a bunch of jobs to level up. The items also do not really let you create any interesting builds as they mostly all similarly increase atk/def. Having a bland gameplay wouldn't normally be a big problem for a game...
Was VERY skeptical about the gameplay transition from beat-em-up to turn based RPG. But having previously played Final Fantasy X, it reminded me of that, so I had little trouble adjusting and getting used to the mechanics. The story was very good - Ichiban has grown on me as a protagonist moving forward, and was appreciative of the character development throughout the story. Of course, in typical Yakuza/LaD fashion, we have the usual substory humour and the amount of side content - spent a good while doing the business minigame, it is VERY worth it in the long term.
Game is too grindy for me personally, and the difficulty spike comes very suddenly in the latter half of the game. IK its an unpopular opinion But I personally didn't fw this game.
I actually do like turn based combat, I just diidn't like this turn based combat. It was janky and frustrating, like someone's tech demo that got pushed to production. I genuinely don't care about how the MC 'sees the world', it didn't make the combat any better. The concept itself was nice though, it was good to have multiple characters to control during the combat, but their moves got repetitive and chorelike, which when combined with the frequency of combat, the resource scarcity and the difficulty spike later on, was not fun in this setting. Aside from that, the main story was really good. A likeable main character and party members, a very good story, and the usual ambience and enjoyment of exploring a city. The artwork and character design is quite good too. The enemy design is somewhat good but gets tiring and repetitive quickly, and the jokes and substories are enjoyable. Overall, although the story is what kept me around, it was the combat that was offputting and pr...
