About This Game

The blight eats the world while humans war for scraps. Will you fight, run, or lead your people to the stars? Or murderously ascend the human throne?

Two races clash; humans and turans--human discord versus turan magic. When the turans’ ancestors left the world to walk between stars, wild magic began returning. Now humans war to fill the vacuum, blind to the magical blight that is racing to smother the whole continent. High in their plateaus, the last turans must choose: Fight, follow their ancestors into the stars, or perish. And their fate rests on the life of a human child.

The Aegis Saga is a 280,00-word interactive fantasy novel by Charles Parkes, where your choices affect the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

  • Play as a male or female human, or as an ungendered turan; gay or straight.
  • Race through a hostile city on the back of a feaclaw.
  • Betray the trust of a powerful shaman as he teaches you to dance time.
  • Find love on the shingle beside a peaceful water garden.
  • Learn about glyf and how your magic can alter or destroy you!
  • See your personality change with your character development, without being locked into decisions to win stats checks.
  • Reread a page you missed, or skip ahead during a second read through.

Whether you try to understand the new world of the humans, or focus on the mysteries of the blight, either way, the child holds the key to everything.

I cant really recommend this one, the story jumps too much to the point I don't even know what is going on anymore, your choices are esentially non existant, this is a linear story just with some flavor options but nothing more, the fact that the story jumps so much makes you to not care at all about any character because of the many jumps in the story.

The multiple view points of the story interacted poorly with the CYOA model. Get ready to have your story be stalled by playing hot potato between three unrelated characters. Oh, and for what ever reason, my story ended on someone who wasn't the main character. The game does have some strengths. The writing is acceptable, and when it finally picks up speed some of the plot threads are interesting to read. The personality system is a bit too vague to be useful. It has some interesting ideas, but it made me feel shoe horned into certain routs with out having clear choices presented to me. Overall this should read more like a novel where you choose unimportant details rather then a game where your choices guide the story.

This story is complicated. It gives you alot to think on as your reading it, trying to keep track of who you are and what your doing, and trying to figure out why. TBH I was often frustrated with the choices presented to me as I played. Mostly because those choices were flavor choices only, and obviously refused to give me an option other than the one the story required. I could cheerfully agree to do something, I could grudgingly agree to do something, I could complain about having to do said something, or I could pretend to be willingly doing something while remaining suspicious / alert to everything else. But I couldnt refuse to do something, or go do something else instead. Not every choice, indeed there are several Id bet MAJOR plot points where there's freedom of choice, and those choices either mattered, or will matter in the next book.... And yes its another to be continued, not completed story. Seriously that needs to be in the Store Description. Fortunately this write...

A solid Choice of Games/Hosted Games entry. The author really took his time to create this world, filled with an extensive lore. It may be too much for some, but it never gets in your way of enjoying the story; it's there for you to deep yourself in it as much as you want, by checking the lore entries in the menu as they become available to you, but you can fully enjoy the game by just checking the first few. This is a Game of Thrones esque story. You have two protagonists, a young orphan boy and a tribe member, who end up getting tangled in political machinations while trying to help those dear to them (or help themselves, it's up to you). At some points it may feel some things are introduced then forgotten about, but trust, most of everything shown makes sense by the end. I loved the path I took and the climax it lead me to. The characters were well flesh out, some with really unexpected depth to them, and the writting was really good. It may take some time to get used to the write...

This is a text only game. There is no visual element. There is no character customization. This is not a game in which the player can make choices that would impact their character's life. There are choices, but only between descriptions of objects, as though choosing what the character likes or feels about their static world. The story is entirely out of the player's control.

This text adventure game is a bit different from the rest, in that there's no major "skill checks" but instead there's a complex and great personality system, so there's more of a narrative focus that'll fit to your character. It takes some getting used to, especially for the multiple point of view characters, but at the end of it, I came to enjoy all views equally and as can be seen from my hours played, I really enjoyed playing through again and again, but now with a new personallity and trying to go different routes than before, There isn't the greatest variety story vise between these 'routes', but the story is just awesome (and the characters are so nuanced and engaging!) to begin with and getting new dialogue and narration by taking different choices was enough for me to complete atleast 3 different play throughs. It is in my top five text adventure games (I have played over 60), but it may not be everybodys cup of tea if you're expecting to use skills to go through a dungeon ...

You wanna write a book? Go ahead and write a book. You want to write a CYOA? Then write a freaking CYOA; but actually do it and don't write a book and try to mask it as a CYOA. I would refund this if I could.

The game is a magical ride. Its scope is beautiful and chances for developing your character are very cool. It does switch between two characters that you can play as but honestly the stories are so well connected and fleshed out that even if it annoys you for a second that you're thrown out of one tale, you immediately get invested in the second story. Wonderful characters, Incredible stories, I need a sequel.
