About the Game

Cardnarok: Raid with Gods is a mind-twisting deckbuilding rogue-like card game where players recruit a team of 3 mythological Gods/Goddesses to battle legendary monsters.

As you enlist more deities to your quest, it’s time to optimize your deck and heroes to create an epic force of devastating combos. Every Expedition is randomly generated, so adaption and strategy are key.

Key Features

  • Harness the power of the Gods - Recruit Gods and Goddesses from the greatest stories ever told. Meet Hermes, Zeus, Athena, Anubis, Isis, and more - each with their own unique active and passive abilities.

  • Play as not one, but three heroes at once – A never-before-seen feature in a card battle game! When you move a deity to the front row, he/she will automatically perform a special move. These moves include abilities that heal teammates, make an extra attack, or even provide beneficial effects such as drawing an additional card or regaining action points!

  • Watch your back! - When you swap the God currently leading your party, your attackers have a chance to make an opportunity attack. Time your switches carefully - or you could be a party member down!

  • Master their ‘Divine Powers’ - Special ‘Divine Cards’ morph and change based on the deity currently leading the charge.

  • Embark on a unique adventure every time - Move around a randomly generated tabletop map to gather coins, healing potions, and new heroes to join your party.

  • Prepare for the unexpected - Each Expedition is procedurally generated, revealing new paths, loot, and creatures.

  • Also a survival game - Health will not be automatically restored after level up or battle. How far can you push in each Expedition?

Note: In addition to Greek and Egyptian myths, we plan to add Chinese, Norse, Hindu, and Japanese myths in the future DLCs.

The first thing usually asked about deckbuilder roguelikes is: How similar is it to the big names in this genre? Is Cardnarok like StS? In some aspects, yes. The map is similar - 3 to 4 paths with fights, shops, events - but there is no full preview. Shops are also similar to StS insofar that cards can be bought and removed here. What is NOT like StS is the team-building aspect. You have 3 active characters, not just one. So is it like Monster Slayers then? Also yes, in some aspects. In MS, you have a main character and 2 companions for support. In Cardnarok, you have 3 playable characters from a pool of different myths and classes (tank, healer, support, physical damage, magical damage), and Divine ('colorless') cards that do different things depending on which character plays them. This makes decks very versatile and is probably one of the most unique mechanics in Cardnarok. Is it anything like Monster Train or Griftlands? Not really. What 'tower defense' is to MT, and 'RPG' is t...

For an early access game it has a lot of potential and the dev team has already made changes in the few days i have played it that make the game feel and play better. I like the game so far and cant wait for more.

Been looking around for some indie games and found this little gem. I love the theme and ideas behind this game especially with the choices of heroes from mythologies of all backgrounds. The combat definitely requires strategical thinking, planning and careful calculation in order to level up fast and build decks that work with your team. At current state it's quite playable and no bug that bricks the game experience. The developers have been patching updates aggressively and that is a good sign. All in all, quite impressive for an early access roguelite game made by a small team and I really look forward to more cards and gods in the future!!

EDITED : Received the quickest and most thorough dev response I've ever had the pleasure of getting- as stated at the top of the original review, the game has great bones. The response has me feeling no way but positive about the future of this game. Section in UI complaints removed due to my lack of attention to detail, if you read the dev response, you can see the original complaint. All remaining parts unchanged so you can see where I stood - but if you wanted to really get anything from this review, read the dev's response - that's where this shines, frankly. Dear Devs - Your game has great bones - and I can see good things coming from your vision, but it really feels early access. Shade intended. As far as the pluses are concerned : its a fun take on a deckbuilding game, I appreciate the cutesy art, the straightforward descriptions, and the limited explanation needed. Very new to genre friendly. I like that the gods are fit to one of four simple archetypes and given their ...

The game has some innovative ideas, but as a whole it is somewhat bland. Individual cards are a bit bland, which might be understandable, considering the additional variety of the God characters. However, the worst offender is the "overworld" part of the game. It ranges from "are we there yet" to "oh my God take me outta here" kinds of bland-and-boring.

Interesting take on the genre The core loop is: - a string of StS-like maps - connected by a monopoly/Game of the Goose-inspired overworld - coupled with Rogue-lite Metaprogression The combat is pretty standard with the caveat of 3 characters (with somewhat varying abilities) in "tag-team" The Deckbuilding part follow the newer trend and allow the player a high degree of control over the resulting deck Overall the game could use more polish and some extra content, but it`s a solid buy if you`re a bored deckbuilder.

I haven't actually played the game yet, but the devs are so nice and active. There was an issue with Thailand's time settings so the game couldn't start. I told the devs that there's a bug, they answer right away and the fix patch got released in the next day. I'm very impressed. -will edit to add more review about gameplay later-
