About This Game

What Is TRF?

The Race Factory is a fast-paced top-down racer, made with an emphasis on customization, and an enjoyable single/multiplayer experience, with AI supported in all modes, both in single player and multiplayer. Taking inspiration from arcade racing games of the 80's and 90's. Featuring drift physics, power-ups to give you the advantage over the competition, and plenty of customization, the aim is to have a fun multiplayer experience, with plenty of variety to keep you entertained!

Game Features:

  • 11 Game Modes, including Race, Elimination (Micro Machines style), Drift, Infection, Cops & Racers, Time Attack and more!

  • Play locally on one PC with 4 players in split-screen*. AI are supported in all modes.

  • 25 Race Tracks and 3 Battle Arenas for you to race and battle on, a track editor is included with the game, which was used to make all the tracks included! You can share your track and arena creations with others using the Steam Workshop!

  • 9 Vehicle Classes, Street, Sport, Super, Hyper, as well as Truck, Formula cars, Karts, Speedboats & Busses!

  • Online leaderboards allow you to compete against the world and your friends in Time Attack mode. Race against your Personal Best ghost, and the World Record holders ghost.

  • A variety of power-ups are available to mess with your opponents, from a Bolt that will force your target into a drift, a Strike that will hit the driver in 1st position, a nifty Nitro to boost yourself ahead of the pack, to a Shield that will help you stay there!

  • Event settings & Mutators allowing you to change the time of day, weather, teams, toggle weapons/collisions, drafting, catch-up and more!

  • Customize the cosmetics of your car by buying unlocks from the in-game shop, as well as purchasing licenses to unlock new vehicle classes to drive!

* Steam Remote Play Together is enabled for playing with friends over the internet, experience may vary depending on your network connection.

I had this on my wishlist and i got the notification it was released, and at under £4 i thought why not. This is basically a very basic (but good) version of micro machines except more micro. The graphics are nothing to write home about but the control of the vehicles (which is most important) is pretty good. There are different classes which all handle differently. My favourite are go kart, formula and boat as they are nippy and great to control flying around corners. There are power ups also which add a bit of a depth as well. With a bit of community involvement, online races could be a lot of fun. Hopefully enough people buy it and we can get some online races on the go.

Really enjoyed the controls, even when using a keyboard. Felt responsive and fun to drift around corners. Had lots of fun with the boat races as well, but if you made a mistake it could be quite dramatic to recover from until I learned to press R to get back on track.

Awesome concept with good execution of gameplay. A few minor bugs, but the dev is persistent to fix them. There are several modes and features to have fun with while keeping things rather simple.

Recent updates have made the game more stable, and the developer is working on new features, which is really good. Lots of bugs have been fixed since release. The game has several fun gamemodes, two types of track editor (one currently in beta, as of writing this review), multiple car classes, including street, formula, karts, trucks, boats, among others. The difficulty is alright most of the time, but do not play drift mode on mountain circuit. Just don't, you'll regret it. That was the first thing I played, and it lead me to leave a negative review at first. I'm still not a huge fan of the handling, because most cars drift even at low speed, but you can get used to it. I think the best feature is the new track editor, because it lets you create absolutely any shape, even real racetracks with relative ease. All in all, definitely worth its price.

Very good game, though, it does crash a lot. The thing is, you can report bugs and crashes to the dev, who actively updates and patches the game.

Nice, simple arcadey drift controls. Just straight up, 2D top-down racing fun. Haven't had a chance to try multiplayer yet (but the AI's are good opponents), but I think this would be a lot of fun with friends.

Simple but fun game with a fair degree of challenge to it. Controls are very responsive and, as terrible a player as I am, with practice I was able to get the hang of it pretty quick. I like the added element of surprise in the form of power-ups, they can be the difference between a sweet last second victory and a soul crushing 'almost made it' moment. I've not had a chance to test out the track builder yet, but I'm definitely motivated to keep playing to unlock all the features.
