About This Game

It's been several years since Harley Leger left New Bretagne and headed west, hoping to leave the past behind and make her way as a freelance writer. After arriving in the sleepy border town of Rosewater, a seemingly trivial assignment for the local paper leads to the hunt for a missing man's fortune—and the story of the century.

Harley and her ragtag posse embark on a harrowing journey across Western Vespuccia, encountering bandits, rebels, visionaries, eccentrics, and many more friends and foes on their quest for fame and riches.

  • A thrilling treasure hunt with 5 travel companions. Choices matter, relationships with your companions affect the trajectory of the story.

  • Inventory is back, but logical, streamlined, and easy to use—no banging things together to see what sticks. Many situations have multiple solutions based on play style.

  • Randomized encounter storylets on your journey, with different situations and outcomes that depend on your previous choices and available resources.

  • Fully rotoscoped animations and cinematic closeups emphasize the action.

  • High resolution 1280x720 graphics (yes, that's 720p!)

  • Full music score by Lamplight City composer Mark Benis, featuring live instruments.

  • Meet over 60 characters, voiced by a star-studded cast of professional voice actors including Cissy Jones (Firewatch, Call of the Sea) Dave Fennoy (The Walking Dead) Roger Clark (Red Dead Redemption 2) and many more!

Been playing this on and off since release but never fully got into it. While I appreciate aspects of the game I wasn't blown away by it. Loved the world and the characters, good graphics for the style of game (pixels and rotoscope) and the voice and music was good. However the game is dependant on the branching storyline and the fate and relationship with the characters . I think this makes the overall story disjointed and lacking in any direction. It does give the game a ton of replay ability I suppose. Most of the 2nd act of the game is travelling between Rosewater and the city. Travelling through the wilderness talking to the characters and solving random vignettes and side quests that have no or limited connection to the overall quest. (Help a travelling troupe of actors with their play, a sea captain going mad or a bunch of cultists in the mountains...all very random.) The puzzles that were there were decent, but mostly it was talking to people and triggering something that prop...

It's not badly made, but really just not my cup of tea. The pacing feels very off, characters seem dull and boring to me, the story doesnt seem to know what it wants to be and the riddles are either non-existent or super easy. Can't really see myself picking this one up again.

Lamplight city was a treat but this is really disappointing. It's pretty (even though the main character looks really awkward, especially the facial expression) and well voice acted but the characters are not either particularly likeable or funny. Everybody is nice and polite, no salt in the dialogues. It gets a bit better once you hit the road but in general the writing is just uneventful some fun parts and lots of boring lows. Act 1 in particular is very slow It's fine if you want the puzzle part of a point n click to take a backseat and focus on dialogues, but they need to be solid.

Well, not everyone made it.... It rarely happens, but finally a non-linear point and click adventure game with meaningful decisions! I loved to discover new locations just to see the artwork.

The pacing is really off for me. It's just going from a new location to another new location where you can do a minimal amount of things so it's more of an interactive movie instead of an adventure game. I'm not going to give a negative review because there was clearly a lot of work done and I want to support new ideas being tried even if they don't work for me.

Rosewater is probably the most delightful surprise for fans of point-and-click adventure games. We’re treated to a story of adventure and friendship, one that is captivating, superbly written, and brought to life by an outstanding cast. If you’re looking for an experience that is both peaceful and thrilling, you absolutely need to discover Rosewater. The trailer doesn’t do the game justice. I would compare Rosewater to some of Wadjet Eye’s titles. A huge congratulations to the team for creating this gem—we can only hope they’ll bring us more games in the future.

Fun story with some good puzzles and continues the steam-punk thematic of Lamplight City. I have to agree with many of the reviews saying they enjoyed the feel of Lamplight City, but I think the game itself is better here. Recommend for sure if you enjoyed Lamplight City though.

Amazing adventure for everyone: Old school and new adventure gamers will certainly enjoy such a great argument and voice actors.

Excellent point and click game from a developer whose works I have enjoyed greatly throughout the years. I am a huge point and click adventure game fan, and I play so many that if it isn't good I simply check out and won't waste my time - I completed Rosewater and loved every minute. It is straight out of the past while maintaining what makes these adventure games great - setting, story, and characters - well puzzles too! Fantastic and plays great on Steam Deck!
