Bandapes is a rhythm fighting game where you control 3 types of monkey at a time. Each monkey has their own combos, and it is up to you to figure out what combos work best for you. I was incredibly lucky to find a 3 note combo for 3 monkeys - this meant I could attack nearly double speed to my opponents. After every match you will get a new monkey on your roster. Once you figure out a combo and can do it reliably, start attacking people above you rank for quicker leveling up. Each level up gives you a new rank and hat you can equip. Should take you around an hour, it crashed a couple times for me but nothing was lost from it.

ba-banana ba-ba-banana-nana, let's power up! (i'm keeping my fingers crossed that SM won't ban(ana) me)
Easy to break, fun to play.
An uncommon concept derailed by spammable attack combos
I got absurdly lucky in Bandapes: I happened across three units that could all attack with the same two-beat command. Each time you attack in Bandapes, the opponent's unit is stunned for a few seconds, and any queued actions are discarded. Two of my units had a quick-attack with a one-beat cooldown - this meant I could launch two attacks every third beat. But that's not the worst part: The worst part is that the computer-controlled units could still attack me first in every battle. So clearly there are some shenanigans going on. There's no rhyme or reason to which units select opponent to attack, so any attempts at strategy are ill-fated - it's entirely possible the first three enemy attacks will target a single one of your units, and they'll be KO'd before they have any chance to defend. Even if they do, defending only increases the chance of dodging, Your best bet is to spam attacks. And until y...
The ranks and levels in this game make absolutely no sense. I'd win matches with all apes still up and loses a level on one of them, and other times get immediately rolled and somehow gain levels. Most of the time when I won a match I'd get the points it told me I would. But there were times where I'd win a match, get told that I won more points than I should have, but actually lose points instead. As for strategy, just pick a team that can fit the most actions into a single command and just spam it until victory. Overall, don't get this game for its own sake, but check it out if you get as part of a larger bundle.

A cool concept of combining turn-based style combat and a rhythm game. However, the actual game is too repetitive and performing attacks feels unresponsive at times. Some combinations of apes can be overpowered and not well balanced at all. I love the idea but the game doesn't give the concept justice, so I give this one a no.
The game is enjoyable but is very repetitive and sometimes the drums don't work. It's still good if you don't mind that. Also, it is just three dollars so it's OK for that price. If there was an "eh" option i would pick that.
