About the Game

"Smart moves" is a combination of puzzle and turn-based mechanics. Destroy monsters, open chests!

The hero can attack monsters when hero and monster are standing on neighboring square. Avoid being the first at a distance of impact! The hero can't skip turns, but can use level objects - or other monsters - to “skip” the turn.

Every game level is a puzzle with its own logical solution. Our experiments with game mechanics require a good understanding from the player how objects interact with each other in the game world.

The game has original game art style. You get a new playing experience where game mechanics are of maximum importance.

What it might lack in complexity, Smart Moves makes up for in heart and soul! It's really enjoyable to play, the puzzles are difficult enough to be thought-provoking without being frustrating, and the game overall just feels GOOD to play. I'd definitely recommend picking it up! And to the devs, keep up the good work!
Grid- & turn-based puzzle game
Smart Moves is a fun little puzzle tactics game. Our protagonist hero seeks to open all the treasure chests on the map, although for what purpose, there's no story to explain. When you move, the enemies move right after too, and you can't skip turns: If you drive yourself into a corner in a chess draw situation (if you move, you die), it's a game over and level restart. (Unless you reached a checkpoint) However, also each attack and interaction counts as a turn, making the enemies move: quite tactical, as both enemies and items become resources to tackle more enemies. Neat!
Features
Enemies seem initially mechanically identical: they always move towards you and die from a single hit. Their apparent intelligence may surprise as in groups they can cooperate to corner you. Some enemy types have special properties though. Like how spiders leave bodies to clean up (a useful resource for hits!). There's an evil witch with nasty su...

Simple puzzle game but very well put together. Has a ton of indie charm! Great little game to play on the side.

Like many games of the puzzle genre, the artwork may seem simplistic, but it works for this game. You're not here for the graphics anyway, but for the puzzles. I like how this game ramps slowly - showing you how to use opening chests as a way to "skip" a turn and get the baddies close to your sword. One thing to remember is that to complete a level you just have to get all the chests, not kill all the baddies. I struggle with a few levels until I realized I could just let the baddies chase me around the map while I moved to get the chest. I have only a few nitpicks 1) if I hold down the arrow, it should let me keep moving after a second or so. Always tapping is bothersome. 2) if the only thing left in a level is open the chests ( all baddies dead ) let me just click a "complete" button to skip all the tapping I have to do to get the chests 3) having even just a touch of story would be nice. why am I here out killing snakes and stuff?

Smart moves is a little puzzle game that is very simple in its presentaton, simplistic even, it sometimes feel like playing a flash game from the past. That simplicity just suits perfectly to the game, and don't let that make you too confident, because there are a few difficult levels toward the end. There's not much to say about it, except that it offers all that you can expect from a game. Entertainement.
