About This Game

Light Fairytale is a turn-based Japanese-style RPG series set in a dying underground world ruled by an evil empire.

The goal of this project is to bring back the immersion and emotion of 90's era JRPGs on current platforms with the expected evolution in both design and technique.

Episode 2 resumes the adventure right after last episode's cliffhanger. Play as Haru and Ayaka as they uncover the mysteries of the cold 'Deeplands' while looking for a way to reunite with Kuroko, meeting with a mysterious silver haired girl along the way.

Characters

Ayaka
A beautiful woman who likes taking care of the almost extinct 'flowers'.

Mysterious Girl
A cryptic, silver haired girl with fierce words and deeds hiding a fragile heart.

Notes about the Light Fairytale series
Each episode is a standalone game, approximately 2 to 3 hours long for a first play-through, double it for a full completion of all the achievements and secrets.

Although optional, import your final save from the previous episode to bring back your stats, items and more!

It took me just shy of 3 hours to play the first Episode. This one certainly felt shorter, but going by the game time, it appears to be around the same, perhaps slightly longer. I know that the length of the first episode was a complaint for some people - don't expect something much longer. The game is mostly the same. But the atmosphere is different. It's hard to describe.
What I Liked
✅As with the first episode, a good job was done with the characters and making you feel what's going on. ✅Music was good (but see below) ✅The stakes were higher this time around; the introduction of elemental summon creatures (but see below) ✅I might be imagining things, but the difficulty felt more balanced this time around. I did import an Episode 1 save; not sure if that had anything to do with it.
What I Didn't Like
⛔Kid. Here, we finally introduce a character that is supposed to be able to fight (actually wields weapons)...yet nearly got me killed aga...

A great next episode for Light Fairytale, very enjoyable! Still gorgeous, still pleasant to play, still frustratingly short (one-man team, I get it) and now the wait for the next, and then final, episodes are going to be SO painful. I'd love to see a publisher pick this guy up and put some real funding behind him to get a "Light Fairytale Complete" or something. Really expand the game and make it bigger :) Oh well, now to wait for Ep 3!

After enjoying the first game, it was really disappointing how bad the second episode was. The game took the worst aspects of the combat from the first game and amplified them greatly. Basically; the short play time is only as long as it is because you have slow attacks, it takes several hits to hill enemies and you move slowly. If it was sped up slightly and you had normal encounters that weren't each painfully difficult AND painfully slow, it'd probably be maybe an hour worth of content. I didn't even finish this one and do not look forward to episode 3 because I can only imagine it getting worse. I mean, what's the point of your strongest attack being you normal non-energized beam sword? It's a slog just to get part way through (I got to the temple/castle/ruins and ran into punishing enemies) and I couldn't take it anymore.

An interesting sequel from the first game. The story gets deeper and the characters are still adorable. Can't wait for the next sequel.

Alright so this series so far has left me jaw-dropped and this coming from neko.works says something. It's a series that now has left wondering 'what happens next??' Speaking as an avid reader of books, this is GOOD. To neko.works, if you're reading this review, you got me HOOKED. I'm waiting on how this all ends and I'm looking forward to dealing with Ep. 3 because now I got to know it'll all end! I'm actually glad I'm following this series and for what it's worth, it feels like a long series but at the same time, it doesn't. RPG-wise, it's enjoyable and as I said it feels long but soon as you get into it, the length of it says differently. Until the conclusion of this series, would I recommend this? It is absolutely worth the time to play it.

Okay, by all means good game but oh my god the ending felt like a climax that you just get nothing out of- ALL of the work and none of the payoff. What WAS that? I hope part 3 isn't that jarring.

I like this a lot, played the first story and thought it was a great intro to the story and how the game is. This episode just takes everything from that and does it better in my opinion. Thank god for the fast forward button, I think I would have cried if I sat through all the battles in regular speed. The game is a pretty cool nod to rpgs like FF7, playing this kinda made me feel like what I was supposed to feel if I played FF7 back in the day. (never played the original)
